About the Book

What can bees teach us about the Kingdom of God? Actually, quite a lot. Life Lessons from the Hive explores the fulfillment of Paul's statement: "All creation testifies to the glory of God." Each of the 30 cleverly illustrated chapters draws thought-provoking parallels between life in the hive and life as a Christ-follower. "Don't be afraid," says Miller in her book as she lifts the lid of the hive for the reader to have a face to face encounter with honey bees and with God. With her easy-going manner she explains the fascinating life of bees as they efficiently work in harmony and seek out the flower's nectar to transform it into honey, nature's perfect food. God does reveal Himself in nature so it shouldn't surprise us that He would use bees and honey to teach lessons about His Kingdom. Life Lessons from the Hive is a one-of-a-kind book that illuminates the amazing community of endangered honey bees. Whether you're an experienced beekeeper or not a beekeeper at all, you'll walk away with a new appreciation and, yes, even affection for the honey bees and, of course, their Creator. This humorously illustrated book safely introduces us to the inner workings of a beehive, without the threat of getting stung.

Review :
"M. J. Miller takes us safely into the world of the honey bee, a world that is spectacular, magnificent and is direct evidence of an all mighty God and His creations." Keith Elrod, President Rutherford County Beekeepers Association, 2014 Tennessee Beekeepers Association Beekeeper of the Year Life Lesson's From the Hive spoke volumes to me as I read it. M. J. has taken her love for bee's and her love for her Heavenly Father and woven them into a beautiful book full of advice, instruction and encouragement. Cherie Jobe Speaker, Life Coach and Author of Secrets From Behind the Chair and Surviving the Bad Hair Days The way M. J. has compared the body of Christ to the workings of the beehive is brilliant. The perfect order for the beehive is exactly how the body of Christ should operate, everyone doing their part for the ultimate good. The bees' ultimate goal is to care for the queen while a Christian's ultimate goal is to care for the Kingdom and she has hit this principle on the nail.... I love the comparison of the protective gear while in the apiary and your armor of God while in the working field in the lost world. And the way that yard tools are important is the same as making sure the Christian is fully equipped with their tools i.e. reading the Bible and praying and fellowship. Definitely a pleasant comparison. Great whether you are an experienced beekeeper, not a beekeeper at all or a Christ-follower this devotional has something for everyone. Rev. Jonathan Osterhaus, President Duck River Beekeepers Association Intriguing. Imagine a beekeeper who enjoys her work so intensely that she sits and simply enjoys watching her bees come and go from their hive. Her knowledge of bees has led her to an inspiring analogy that will encourage and inspire as well as inform. As M. J. Miller interjects the humor of her own personality to explain the life and work of bees, she carries the reader from close understanding of bees to a deeper understanding of a life with Jesus. Her parallels not only inform, they inspire the readers to contemplate the spiritual purpose of their own life. Not only did I learn fascinating facts about honey bees. In Lessons from the Hive, M. J. Miller uses parallels drawn from a massive understanding of honey bees to challenge me to evaluate my spiritual life. Yes, I bee-lieve our Creator teaches us through these amazing bees.
