About the Book

Scripture, Texts, and Tracings in Galatians and 1 Thessalonians advances the interpretation of these letters by exploring how the Apostle Paul quotes, alludes to or "echoes" the Jewish Scriptures and other ancient materials. Comparative wording is at the forefront, whether in relation to Abraham, Sarah, Hagar, or prophecies and promises from Genesis, Habakkuk, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, the Psalms, or other texts such as Philo. Issues and controversies include such topics as faith (?? p?ste??), the Torah, the Holy Spirit, holiness, suffering, eschatology, allegorical interpretation, identity of the Israel of God, Zion and the return from exile, Roman piety, imperialism, and hidden transcripts.

Review :
This is an impressive and useful collection that makes a valuable contribution to the book series to which it belongs and to the larger industry devoted to the study of Paul's engagement with Jewish Scripture. [The] book covers more than just Paul's use of Scripture. The latter is its starting point, and there is much here that engages insightfully with scriptural tracings in the two epistolary texts. But in so doing, a wider range of lenses are opened up that helpfully testify to the way in which scriptural usage might shed light on broader interpretative matters. This volume is an important contribution to understanding the intertextual matrices of Galatians and 1 Thessalonians. The diverse chapters form a fine foundation for additional research and expansion of the knowledge base for the material covered.

A Thrilling But Totally Believable Murder Mystery

Read this in one evening. I had planned to do other things with my day, but it was impossible to put down. Every time I tried, I was drawn back to it in less than 5 minutes. I sobbed my eyes out the entire last 100 pages. Highly recommend!
