About the Book

Merry And Bright Christmas is the time for the heart, and #1 New York Times bestselling novelist Debbie Macomber is here to warm yours with a charming holiday novel of first impressions and second chances. Merry Knight is very busy this season. She's taking care of her family, decorating for the holidays, baking cookies, and hoping to stay away of the crosshairs of her stressed and rule follower boss at the enterprise where she temps. Her personal social life is the last thing she has on her list, much less a man. Without her awareness, Merry's well-meaning mom and brother build an online dating profile for her without her photo, and the matches start arriving. Initially, Merry is suspicious, but she reluctantly decides to give it a try. Soon Merry ends chatting with a charming person, a man with similar inclinations and an unmistakably kind soul. Their online dialogues become the brightest part of her day. But joining face-to-face is altogether complicated, and her unique new friend is the last person Merry expects or seeks. Still, sometimes emotions can see what our eyes cannot. In this satisfying seasonal tale, unanticipated love is only a click away. While she loves her coworkers and the job she's doing, it will be nice to complete her college degree and move on with her life. Moreover, there's her grouchy boss Jayson Bright. He might be as impressive as they get but his character needs some adjusting. Not that Merry would ever have the courage to tell him that, considering they crash at every turn in the office already. Even her effort to bring holiday cheer to her coworkers by decorating their space was eliminated by Mr. hostile himself, Jayson. She lets it go and rather concentrates on completing her job on a good note while also equipping for the impending hectic Christmas festivities with her family. 'Wonder what that means that we're both at home on a Friday night?' he wrote. 'It tells a lot, doesn't it?' Merry typed. 'Thing is, I wouldn't want to be elsewhere than right here, right now, talking with you.' 'Are you sweet chatting me?' 'And if I was?' 'Then keep communicating.' Things dramatically change when they agree to meet, and she discerns she already knows Jay. She has trouble reconciling the man she met online with the man Merry has dealt with in the past and before long, Merry will have to have to make a decision how to reveal the truth to Jay, knowing there will be outcomes she'll have to face. "You're the lady I want, Merry, and you're gorgeous, both inside and out... You mean the world to me! You are the most magnificent woman I've ever known." Merry and Bright was a holiday romance with an utterly engaging storyline and endearing characters, plus the bonus of being filled with the warmness and spirit of the holydays. "Christmas is a state of the heart," she continued... "It's being open and sincere, magnanimous and kind to those with less, or showing our love to those we love." Like many readers in the market, Debbie Macomber is one of my favorite authors. She never fails to charm the reader with her peculiar but realistic characters and the real wisdom; she shares her uplifting stories. This particular tale showed many of the cast facing misfortune, whether it was in a family association (Jayson), struggling to make money (Merry) or even through well-being issues (Merry's mom and brother). And it is interesting that while each person dealt with things in their way, they didn't necessarily remain on the problems and instead found a way to endure and even flourish. That incredible human character was such a beautiful thing to see, and Macomber excels at exhibiting in her books. The romance between Merry and Jayson was complicated but had a lot of fun components to it. There was a bit of office courtship, some online relationships between them, and just much sweetness and cute times.
