About the Book

The author continues to annoy his family by bombarding them with another series of letters resulting in the current book in the Muttering of a Madman series. This one is subtitled, Character: The Brain, Mind, Consciousness, and Trump. Under Part 1, Brain, Mind, and Consciousness, the author explores the development of the human being from the brain, to the mind, to consciousness. Specifically, he is interested in how the brain, mind, and consciousness assist in the development of character. He does this by first showing how we became human through the process of natural selection. He then shows how the human brain developed to include its structure and evolution. He continues discussing the brain and three of its major afflictions: Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, and Phantom Pain (from which he suffers). He next shows how the mind develops from the brain by discussing the mind, dualism, and three theories of the mind. He continues with a discussion of the mind by showing how consciousness develops. He ends this section by speculating on the future of the human brain. Under Part 2, Trump's Campaign, Election, and Presidency, the author reviews the election of Trump and some of the distractions that have accompanied his presidency. He begins by reviewing Trump's ability to govern and his cabinet selections. He follows this by reviewing how the Russians interfered in the US presidential election in an attempt to influence the election in Trump's favor. He next covers charter schools, the Russian Trump Dossier, building the border wall, banning the Muslims, and the chaos of Trump's management style. He ends this section by discussing Trump's conflicts of interests and the relationship between Trump, Bannon and their world view. Under Part 3, Character, the author begins by exploring the relationship between character and personality and highlighting the difference between the culture of character and the culture of personality in anticipation of writing a character analysis of Trump and a character analysis of himself. He next does an analysis of Trump's character by emphasizing Trump's personality but lack of character. His last letter to his family is an analysis of his own character in which he emphasizes his 'quare' personality and his devotion to his family, clan, and tribe. Under Part 4, Appendices, the author highlights the lessons he has learned throughout his military and civilian careers and, finally, elaborates further on his Meyers-Briggs personality profile, INTJ.
