About the Book

Most independent advisory firms don't fail because of markets, competition, or lack of effort. They fail because they were never designed to function as scalable, durable businesses.

Independent advisors are trained to gather assets, serve clients, and grow revenue-but rarely taught how to architect a firm that operates independently of the founder. The result is a practice dependent on personal effort, memory, and individual heroics rather than structure, systems, and design.

In this book, veteran advisor and consultant Mark Page introduces a disciplined, enterprise-level framework for building an advisory firm that works because it is intentionally designed to. Rather than offering tactics, trends, or motivational advice, the book presents a comprehensive operating system for advisory firms.

Built around four integrated Cornerstones-Business Control, Growth, Client Engagement, and Enterprise Design-the framework guides advisors through the same structural disciplines shared by high-performing, enduring firms. Readers learn how to:

Establish control over time, capacity, and economics before pursuing growth

Design marketing, referral, and niche strategies that compound rather than exhaust

Create client experiences that deepen trust, loyalty, and long-term value

Install roles, systems, and governance that allow the firm to scale beyond the founder

Each chapter produces concrete deliverables that roll into a single Master Business Plan, ensuring the work is practical, cumulative, and executable-not theoretical or dependent on willpower.

Written for independent financial advisors who want to build real enterprise value-not just short-term production-this book shows how to move from practice to firm, from effort-driven growth to durable value creation. It positions advisory businesses not as personal careers, but as designed operating systems capable of scale, continuity, and longevity.

About the Author :
Mark Page is a practice management architect, executive leader, and former financial advisor with more than three decades of experience working alongside independent financial professionals across the United States. Over the course of his career, Mark has advised thousands of advisors as a consultant, executive, wholesaler, and practitioner-helping firms move beyond effort based growth and toward businesses built on structure, clarity, and intentional design. His work has focused on business planning, growth strategy, organizational design, succession, and enterprise value creation. Mark held senior leadership and consulting roles with several major financial services organizations, including Cetera Advisors Networks, National Planning Holdings, National Planning Corporation, and Carson Group Partners. In these roles, he designed firmwide practice management systems, growth frameworks, and operating models still used by advisors and leadership teams today. On December 31st, 2025, Mark retired from Cetera and corporate America to consolidate his intellectual property and document the systems, frameworks, and operating principles developed over his career. That work became the foundation for his book, The Structured Advisor - A Systems First Blueprint for Growth, Engagement, and Enterprise Value. Mark is known for translating complex business concepts into practical, repeatable systems advisors can implement without guesswork or gimmicks. His philosophy emphasizes discipline over motivation, structure over personality, and systems over heroics. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Minnesota and has earned multiple FINRA registrations over the course of his career.
