About the Book

50 Learnings for a Successful Association Executive -A Guide to a Successful Career is more than just a book on management, it is a treatise on what has been and what can be a successful aide for the individual just on-boarding in association management or a veteran executive who is looking for some reassurance or insights. The Corner Office can be a very lonely location. Managers inherently ooze confidence, but deep down we all need a pat on the back or a kind word to reaffirm that we are on target and doing the very best that we can. 50 Learnings provides knowledge and recommendations on how to achieve such success and a second opinion on the maneuvers that we all use with staff and Boards of Directors. 50 Learnings for a Successful Association Executive: A Guide to a Successful Career is your go-to-guide for individuals who need a helping hand or a kick in the rear. This treatise will provide a reminder why individuals entered the management profession with a specific emphasis on associations and non-profits in the first place. 50 Learnings will provide the reader an understanding for what it takes to be successful and front a management team or partner with a Board of Directors. The learnings might seem rather obvious to some, but the detailed explanations and the stories will give all a moment of thought and understanding that will get you through your next anxiety-laden moment or career threatening crisis. Author, Daniel C. Borschke, FASAE, MA, CAE who previously wrote the acclaimed business book: If You Are Going Through Hell Don't Stop Keep Going - Guide to Transition and Search takes the opportunity in this new heart-felt expose to once again share his experiences and knowledge in the association community. After more than 4 decades managing trade associations and serving as an Executive Recruiter, such insights are based on unique stories and life-long experiences. 50 Lessons should certainly be considered a continuation of what it takes to get the right job and what it takes to keep the right job. -Associations Exist to Serve Its Members -Get Certified - A Career and not just a Job -Lead - Don't Follow -Maintain your Ethics - Ultimately You Only Have Your name and Reputation -Don't Overstay Your Welcome Such learnings provide not just the flavor of the conversation within the book but also illustrates what is important for an executive to succeed in the association and not-for-profit profession, a unique and specialized niche of the overall business community. However, though the book emphasizes experiences within the association and not-for-profit community, the 50 Learnings are easily transferable and pertinent to all individuals who lead teams and front individuals whose goals always include doing their ultimate best while succeeding in their careers.
