About the Author :
Liz Ashe Havrilla is a Christian realtor broker with a compelling testimony of God's miracles as she survived one of the most dangerous hurricanes ever to hit the United States. She opens her soul with clear transparency as she fought for her life and how God provided for her needs one step at a time. Her testimony and statements have been featured in magazines and newspapers and has been a guest speaker at numerous conferences and for several organizations. The reason Liz wrote this book was that she might be able to help people who are struggling with dealing with the aftermath of destruction. "Destruction doesn't always come in the form of a hurricane, "Liz says." "Sometimes it comes from outside sources such as an unhappy marriage or an abusive relationship or an addiction to drugs, alcohol or sex. It could range from experiencing a great loss. Especially those who have experienced a similar-type catastrophe from a man-made event. Basically, I wanted them to know that God's hand is everything that we experience, and that we should remain faithful. And life goes on, and it can be better than it was before, as it was in my case. Before Hurricane Katrina, Liz went back to study History. "It's my favorite subject," Liz says. "Especially, the history of New Orleans. Her studies were interrupted by Hurricane Katrina and it took ten years before she could graduate. Upon going back to school her association with Professor Michael Mizel-Nelson help her in the aftermath by allowing her to share her story and be part of building a digital library which contains a tremendous amount of information on Hurricane Katrina so future generations would have access to the information unlike hurricanes Camille and Betsy which also were major destructive forces to the Louisiana and Mississippi Gulf Coast. Now and since Hurricane Katrina destroyed St. Bernard Parish she has devoted her time to help rebuild these communities. Liz is a New Orleans native, and a real estate broker. Her company, Demand Realty, has two locations - Metairie, La and Diamondhead, Ms. Liz is a God-fearing woman and is married to Tom Havrilla and has two children.
