About the Book

Priority: A Survey of Methodology for Improvement Toward Betterment and Well-Being

Bruce Knecht describes his book, PRIORITY, as a "coffee tabletop book" a book for everyone.

"It is not academic; rather, a read for all young or old, and whatever intellectual level the reader is at. Whether one has two minutes or an hour, there is something to read, view, digest, and contemplate."

Knecht's background in poetry allows for a lyrical approach to an often dry subject. He also adds vibrant, colorful photography to the book to bring beauty into the survey of finding well-being and betterment.

Whether a simple quotation, essay, or prose, Knecht makes the subject of internal positive growth an enjoyable and satisfying one.

In all, Knecht challenges readers to look within themselves to find understanding, which brings the reward of a fulfilling life resulting in one of deeper satisfaction.

Common sense and reason are included in Knecht's toolbox for wisdom and well-being.

"With systematic reasoning," Knecht says, "anyone can gain the foundation for a better and more beneficial life."

Knecht proposes a positive aim of betterment for humankind, and a reward of "deep satisfaction" as one moves along in the journey of improvement.

"Life presents this opportunity for positive growth. Stay on the path and enjoy this harmony with nature and its laws. Flow and glide, like the grace of the seabirds just above the ocean's surface."

About the Author :
Bruce Knecht studied philosophy under William Holland, Dean and Provost at Southeastern Massachusetts University, with an emphasis on logic and Ancient Greek philosophy. The two remained close friends until Holland's passing. Later, Knecht pursued studies in Eastern thought at the Dao Temple in Bradenton, Florida, and the Sufi Center in Sarasota, Florida. He also studied poetry with Pulitzer Prize winner and two-time National Book Award recipient Alan Dugan at Castle Hill Center for the Arts in Truro, Massachusetts. Knecht recalls returning each year to sit under an old pine tree, listening to the master speak about finding one's voice and style, and "the importance of keeping one's writing simple and clear." Knecht is the founder and former director of the New Bedford Poetry Society and Poets for Peace in South Florida.
