About the Author :
JOHN BALLARD, PH.D., is emeritus professor of management at Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, Ohio. A graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, during his Air Force career Ballard reinvented Air Force management consulting, resolved major operational issues, and saved U.S. taxpayers millions of dollars. He retired from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel. Dr. Ballard earned a master's degree at the University of Southern Mississippi and completed his doctoral studies at Purdue University. He began his academic career at the Air Force Institute of Technology, the graduate school of the U.S. Air Force, where he was named Outstanding Professor of the Year. He has served on the management faculty at Wittenberg University, Springfield, Ohio, and Miami University of Ohio, and taught as part of Central Michigan University's Global Campus. At Mount St. Joseph, he was awarded the Distinguished Scholar Award. Cincy Magazine honored him as one of Cincinnati's top educators. Serving on the editorial board of the Academy of Management Learning & Education, the top journal in management education, he was recognized with an Editorial Board Outstanding Reviewer Award. The first edition of Decoding the Workplace was honored as best Career book at the 2016 Next Generation Book Awards. Dr. Ballard shares practical implications of academic research through his blog at psychologytoday.com. Dr. Ballard is married to Emily, his seventh grade sweetheart. An amateur astronomer, he enjoys the art of Bernard Gantner, the plays of Tom Stoppard, and the music of the Irish band U2.
