About the Book

Tim's world shatters when he loses his father, leaving him with nothing but memories and the looming threat of a move from River Fork's New Hampshire farm country to a big city.

Wishing Dad home for his thirteenth birthday, and armed with his father's tales of Tiny Bear, a magical bear, Tim embarks on a camp-out along the Saco River, searching for a connection to his dad. But when a hurricane strikes and traps him in a flooded cave, his quest turns into a perilous journey. Tim's faith in magic is tested. As he grapples with grief and the reality of his situation, he must decide whether to hold on to his belief in Tiny Bear or face the heartbreaking truth of his loss.

Can Tim find the strength to navigate both the storm outside and the storm within?

For those experiencing the loss of a loved one, Tim's journey will resonate as he explores grief, belief, and self-discovery within this historical coming of age setting.

About the Author :
J. M. Orise, a Maine native, earned her BS degree in Art Education, with an Endorsement to teach Computer Science from the University of Maine, Gorham, ME. She later studied Children's Book Publishing and Illustration at the Portland School of Art (now known as Maine College of Art and Design), Portland, ME, where, for teacher certification renewal, she also studied creative storytelling and writing poetry. Her twenty-year teaching career occurred mostly at the high school level, where she taught art, computer science, web design, desktop publishing, and introduced computer animation at Gorham, Wells, and Waterboro high schools. She finally taught at Portsmouth High School, Portsmouth, NH, where she introduced Internet Safety into the curriculum, assisted by the Portsmouth Internet Forensic Police Department. Orise often writes poetry, which she stores in a briefcase. While at the Portland School of Art, she wrote a children's story based on an ancient tale, which she stored with her poems. Being an artist, Orise considers writing as painting with words. When not writing, you will find her at Orise Studio Gallery painting and teaching beginner and advanced art lessons. Orise and her husband live in mid-coast Maine, as well as on Florida's Nature Coast, where they feed the crows who sit in the branches of a nearby tree, next to the patio, to chat with Orise. https: //jmorise.com/ Jo M. Orise, artist (also known as J. M. Orise, author) provided the illustrations and designed the book cover for River Fork: The Bear in the Storm. Jo creates two dimensional art in her fine arts studio, Orise Studio Gallery, in Owls Head, Maine. She also provides art lessons to teens and adults. Review :

"Growing up is tough. In this intriguing story, Tim struggles with the loss of Dad. Friends, danger, rationalization, and determination steer him on a journey to make things as they were. Grief, rebellion, anger, and faith in a special bear lead Tim to discover not all is as it seems.

An excellent read for the young person, and parents dealing with loss and grief."
