About the Book

Thomas Jefferson lived a love story that spanned the American Revolutionary War. Martha Jefferson ("Patty") married him on 1/1/1772, and she died on 9/6/1782. What is not much known now is that Patty was an ardent abolitionist, and she fostered such an abolitionist fever in her husband that arguably, Patty's death caused the Civil War. The Jeffersons were working on how to lead an immediate, peaceful abolition in the United States that could have happened around 1800. But he was so destroyed by Patty's death that instead, he left Virginia for decades. And he became the first Secretary of State, the second Vice President, and the third President of the United States.

My Thomas is a well-researched and very accurate biography of Thomas Jefferson's beautiful marriage to Martha Wales Skelton that spanned the Revolutionary War, written as a highly enjoyable love story.

About the Author :
Roberta Grimes began to write fiction in childhood. Soon after she attended Smith College and Boston University School of Law, she published her first two novels traditionally (Berkley and Doubleday). She found that publication method to be heavily stacked against authors, however, so she wrote thereafter only as a hobby, while she practiced business law as her enjoyable career. Roberta also has studied and taught the afterlife for fifty years, and studied and taught the Biblical Gospels as well; and she has written a half-dozen well-received non-fiction books on both topics. Roberta lives with her husband, Edward, in Austin, Texas. They have three children and eight grandchildren.

Review :

PRAISE FOR ROBERTA GRIMES'S SECOND NOVEL, 'MY THOMAS'

"This moving tale succeeds both as a gripping historical saga and as a powerful love story."

- Publisher's Weekly

"Not since Michael Shaara's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the battle of Gettysburg, 'Killer Angels', have I read such a fine historical novel."

- Daniel L. Mallock, The Patriot Ledger, Quincy, MA
