About the Book

INTERWOVEN, the highly anticipated inaugural volume in the Points of Failure series by H.E. Wallace and Roi Qualls, plunges into the post-conflict world of 2275 where humanity faces its starkest choice: escape or perish. With only 85 years remaining before Earth can no longer support human life, the Umoja-19 mission must not fail. When things do not go as planned it falls to Chief Scientist Dr. Tah Morant to figure out why his Deuteron engine has failed and how to fix it. But nothing is as it seems. Dr. Morant's efforts are complicated by personal tensions, childhood trauma, fickle friendships, and brittle intimacies of marriage. To make matters worse, he must steer clear of danger and political intrigue while navigating with a moral compass clouded by corporate bureaucracy and personal vendettas. This isn't merely science fiction; it's a profound odyssey into social and personal transformation, the relentless pursuit of justice, and the deep spiritual metamorphosis required for our very survival. As one reviewer eloquently puts it, INTERWOVEN crafts a "beautifully detailed world," carrying "the exquisitely crafted undertones of Octavia Butler," in its unflinching examination of complex human nature and the intricate cultural structures that persist even after global accord has seemingly abolished war. This painful journey mirrors the caterpillar's radical metamorphosis-a necessary dissolution of the old form for a completely new existence. INTERWOVEN reflects on our complicity, our courage, and the choices we face in shaping what comes next for planet earth. This isn't a dystopian warning or a utopian escape, but a vital call to self-examination and transformation, particularly in the face of the calamities--physical, cultural, spiritual, political--shaping our current reality.

About the Author :
Compelling stories have always captured H.E. Wallace's attention. INTERWOVEN, her debut novel, ties together her love for a good story and the dream of writing one. Before becoming a writer, she earned her clinical doctorate for physical therapy and worked as a licensed physical therapist. That role gave her a chance to help people in her community, but left little room for creative expression. In 2020, in a leap of faith, she left her job to start over. The years that followed brought their share of uncertainty and underemployment, but they also sparked a deeper understanding: true transformation-both personal and collective-often begins with spirituality and the arts. Together with her co-author, Roi Qualls, she founded Knowetix to explore these themes. Through their work, they hope to inspire others to grow, create, and build stronger communities.Beyond writing, H.E. Wallace's interests include reading, visual arts; music, audiobooks, and podcasts; threadworks, nature walks, and travel. She currently lives in a seaside Washington town near her mother who was the first to encourage her to write. Roi Qualls conceived his first novel, INTERWOVEN, in 2013, and it would not leave his mind. A decade later, he retired from his career as a database architect to bring it to life with co-author H.E. Wallace. Together, they launched Knowetix in 2023-a creative collaborative rooted in storytelling, spirituality, and the vision of a just and unified future.Roi studied philosophy and education at Earlham College before moving into software development. Over the years, he co-founded several startups-some were successful, others not so much - but all held important life lessons.Deeply committed to community building, Roi actively supports efforts to advance racial harmony and justice. He lives in beautiful Yellow Springs, Ohio, with Linden, his wife of 45 years. They have two daughters and four grandchildren who bring them daily clarity and joy.Amid a busy life, Roi finds peace in the company of the wildlife in his backyard and hope in the belief that stories-honest, courageous ones-can move hearts, shift thinking, and give strength in the struggle to shape a better world. Kim Douglas is a writer, educator, speaker, and founder of Write to Unite. Her organization provides online writing services to empower individuals to write their stories of growth and empowerment to meet the urgent need for personal and collective awakening and transformation. Kim's educational, editorial and writing career spans over three decades. The Baha'i Faith inspires her commitment to transformation, service and unity. She has served more than 2,000 individuals to free their voices, explore and expand upon their truth, and write their stories to contribute to social discourse and as an act of service.

Review :
". . . a dramatic blend of human struggle and science speculation to tell the story of the first space mission to go beyond our solar system. Wallace and Qualls have given us a riveting peek into our future and left us with a lot to ponder." Dr. Lou Strolger, Observatory Scientist, Space Telescope Science Institute ". . .a novel with enormous heart and a clear message: If we really want to reach for the stars, we have to tell the truth about ourselves." Nathan Alan Davis, Lorraine Hansberry Award recipient (2013) "Vivid, human, and unflinching, INTERWOVEN sparks conversation-about how we heal, how we evolve, and how we face conflict and collaborate across differences to build something more whole." Kim Douglas, author of High Desert: a Journey of Survival and Hope "INTERWOVEN's dire dilemma and vividly imagined world feels not just theoretical, but deeply personal and surprisingly timely." Kemba Saran Braynon, author of To Dine with the Blameless Ethiopians ". . . a powerful blend of science fiction and social commentary set in a future that feels disturbingly close." Sharon Davis, author of INTENDED, a marriage in Black & White
