THE TRUTH IS.
A poetry collection by David Murphy.
In The Truth Is., the poems move between human experiences-love, grief, hope, addiction, kindness, childhood-and vast cosmic perspectives involving astronomy, evolution, entropy, and the eventual fate of the universe.
David's poems argue that kindness, curiosity, courage, and work give meaning to our brief lives.
Kindness
Kindness saves us when voices rage,
when we feel life's become a cage,
when loneliness is at the door,
when wealth is lost and we are poor,
when we grow sad about our age.
As the curtains rise on our stage,
as we turn our ultimate page,
when we've been emptied of our store,
kindness saves us.
From hearts as cold as an ice age,
from tears that pity won't assuage,
from staying shattered to the core,
from forgetting things we adore,
more than psychologists can gauge,
kindness saves us.
