About the Book

Raine Thompson is a rookie agent of Domestic Security Services, a secret agency doing the dirty jobs that other government agencies pass on to them. Stationed in Washington D.C., Raine navigates the underworld of the Russian Mafia, motivated by vengeance. Her tenacity pays off when the chance to eliminate those responsible for her boyfriend' s death finally appears. Her mission takes on a greater scope when it is revealed that one of the Russian cartels has stolen a deadly virus and plans to auction it off to the highest bidder. Teamed with a veteran analyst who is battling a brain tumor, Raine is tasked with recovering the vials at any cost. Raine must battle not only the enemy, but also her own inner fears and desires for vengeance to succeed. Failure means the deaths of millions.

About the Author :
After a career which included writing for technical manuals and marketing pieces, CJ Grant turned her attention to fiction. She began telling herself stories as a child to distract her mind from tinnitus as she fell asleep. She loves the freedom to write anything she wants and is fascinated with good people who do bad and bad people who do good. CJ lives in southcentral Pennsylvania, is a member of Pennwriters.org and enjoys working with teens, gardening, and of course, writing.

Review :
"Smart, sexy, and sweary, DSS operative Raine Thompson is driven to succeed in a murderous world that leaves no room for hesitation. CJ Grant's gripping page-turner packs both physical and emotional punch." -- Demi Stevens, editor and publisher, Year of the Book Press "CJ Grant's Sometimes Death is a Blessing is a feisty, fun, and fast read that immediately engages and entertains. Grant's heroine, Raine Thompson, is a smart, sexy, and sassy as hell character. Readers will cheer for Raine's safety and success while she hunts international bad guys armed to the teeth. This book is a must-read for anyone who loves a good thriller!" -- Sandra M. Bush, Author of Money Man and Money Man Marooned Exploring the nuanced life of a government-sanctioned assassin. Are assassins introspective? Sometimes Death is a Blessing is a nuanced story that explores the inner workings of a killer's mind. This multifaceted novel combines intriguing villains, laugh evoking quips and plenty of action to keep the pages turning. CJ's descriptive writing paints superb mental portraits of character and scene combined with a well-paced plot and skillfully woven back story. The story will interest action fans as well as those who are intrigued by the human psyche, extrinsic motivation, and moral dilemmas. I found myself considering the choices made long after I put it down. What would I do in the same situation? -- Nancy F. "With a just-right balance of action and heart, Sometimes Death is a Blessing by CJ Grant is a genuine page-turner. I was immersed in the world of the novel's kick-ass heroine, Raine, as she navigated her unwanted role of assassin with the help of unique companions, cool tech, and her own angst about justice. I understand a sequel is in the works, and I can't wait! Can a movie adaptation be far behind?" -- Jeanne Moran, author of Risking Exposure "Suspense? Thriller? Page after page of thrills mixed with a dose of heart and friendship. Meet a smart troubleshooter and her secret government comrades as they hunt down the bad guys and make them pay. Some of the most realistic action scenes I've ever read." -- Susan Gourley, author of The Morbunda Sage and The Futhark Chronicles "C.J. Grant first appeared on my press in 2021 with a remarkable piece of short fiction crafted in the first person. Her debut feature portrays a protagonist akin to the character from the movie Atomic Blonde. Her writing attracted a lot of positive attention and praise. Sometimes Death is a Blessing will be a roller-coaster of tense action and character development to die for." -- Craig Douglas, Managing Director and Editor of Close To the Bone Publishing
