Seventeen-year-old Seadon Brinley and his family have time-traveled to a strange new world in search of his oldest brother, Bain. In this new world, Seadon's boyish curiosity and hardheaded nature gets him in trouble and he wakes to find he has been stolen from his parents and forced into servitude aboard a pirate ship. Seadon grows up aboard this ship with many other stolen boys under the cruel and heavy hand of the terrible ship's bosun, Kaliel; a man who takes great pleasure in breaking the boys spirit's with his cat o' nine tails. However, Seadon's strength of will, quick wit, past experiences, and fearless nature help him to become a formidable pirate and first-mate, one feared and respected by his shipmates. However, these same characteristics are also the cause of his misfortune. One fateful day, his life unexpectedly changes for the worse. He finds himself in a new world, injured, and alone. What does this new world hold for him? Where will his adventures take him next?
