About the Book

David Newcomb combines his love of flying and all things aeronautical with his life-long love of writing. If you've ever wondered what would it be like to learn how to fly, To the Brink is your kind of book. Newcomb takes you there. He puts you in the pilot's seat, and, along the way, introduces you to some really interesting people. Have a great flight. "Newcomb's To The Brink provides a compelling, sometimes chilling, often inspirational narrative of the challenges facing a novice driven to become a licensed pilot. You are there in the cockpit with Newcomb as he simulates stalls, aborts landings, confronts turbulence and treacherous weather conditions and lands at night on a barely lit runway. . . . If you really want to know what learning to fly is all about, To The Brink is the book for you." Michael E. Reed, Esq. "David Newcomb's brilliantly written journal treats readers to an adventure they won't find elsewhere-the experience of learning how to fly an airplane from scratch without having to do it themselves. In a style that reads with the flow and beauty of a novel, Newcomb leads readers along his painful journey of self-discovery, immersing them in a world in which they feel the frustration of a student who, despite repeated failures, ultimately succeeds by not giving up." Barry LerneR, author of Love's Last Madness
