Michaela Jones was just an ordinary, Mid-Western teen trying to survive the insane asylum she called a high school and make it to college in one piece. "The Girl's Guide To The Apocalypse by John Murray McKay is an entertaining book for the YA audience and more. Even better, it grabs your attention right away from the beginning pages. Michaela Jones is the main character and dealing with not only high school and all of its inherent drama, but now she must fulfill her father's last wish, which is basically to beat death. Not a small task, but one that Michaela and her friends must tackle. This is a well-written book, with a fast pace, unique plot, and characters that are spot-on for the setting. Battle scenes round out this accessible fantasy adventure story. You will find yourself simply engrossed and intrigued right from the start. Great book for the YA audience but will be fine for an older audience as well. Highly recommend."
