Review :
Reviewed by Anne-Marie Reynolds for Readers' Favorite In Milden and the Vanishing Numbers by Nabila Nawaz, Milden is a creative boy who loves painting, reading, and dreaming. But Math? Now that was a different matter. When it was his turn to solve a Math problem on the board in class, he wanted nothing more than to disappear. Suddenly, a puff of smoke appeared, and all the numbers in the room disappeared! Milden has to find the numbers, so he follows the clues. As he and his friends search high and low, Milden starts to notice patterns. As they find the last number, the number monster appears, but Milden is shocked to discover the monster has a secret. What is that secret? Can Milden beat his fear of Math? Milden and the Vanishing Numbers by Nabila Nawaz is a fun story and educational as well. The illustrations by Maja Ranisavljev are wonderful, helping tell the story and making it easier for young kids to follow. I can empathize with Milden in this story; I hate Math, too! This story is designed to help kids overcome their fear of Math, but it also teaches them confidence with realistic characters that they'll find easy to relate to. At the end of the book is a list of tips to help kids learn to like Math and not be so fearful of it, but some of those tips can easily be carried over into other subjects or even life itself. Overall, this is a great kids' book, perfect for home and school reading. Mom's Choice Awards A fun, heartwarming story about overcoming math anxiety and building confidence, perfect for ages 4-7.
