About the Book

If eyes are the windows to the soul then award-winning historian Lochlainn Seabrook's artistic literary work, Heroes of the Southern Confederacy: The Illustrated Book of Confederate Officials, Soldiers, and Civilians, is a glimpse into the very heart of the Old South. With some 1,200 antique photographs and drawings of Confederate individuals, this invaluable visual volume humanizes the traditional 19th-Century Southerner, thereby increasing the reader's understanding of the Confederacy and her people: who they were, what they believed, and why they fought. Contemplate the faces, expressions, and clothing of hundreds of men, women, and children in this unique "you-are-there" style book that brings home the realities of Left-wing U.S. President Abraham Lincoln's attack on the Constitution and the American people - all through rare and faded pictures dating from the Victorian Era (where possible, carefully repaired, cleaned, and enhanced by the author). Feel the pathos of the antebellum, bellum, and postbellum periods come alive as you peruse the searing portraits of traditional Southerners who endured one of the world's bloodiest, most destructive, and most unnecessary conflicts. Some 156 years after the Confederates stacked arms at Appomattox Court House, the same courage, perseverance, and American values that carried these rugged individuals through Lincoln's War has reignited patriotic nationwide interest in the Confederate Battle Flag, with a whole new generation now once again supporting the Southern Cause (conservatism). As with so many of Col. Seabrook's books, the reader will find that Heroes of the Southern Confederacy is a transformative experience. Includes images of 430 Confederate generals and a complete list of all 474 Confederate generals (most officially confirmed, some not), as well as images of an assortment of both Confederate civilians and lower-ranked Confederate soldiers (many still unidentified). Additionally, Col. Seabrook has provided a detailed introduction, a comprehensive index, an exhaustive bibliography, footnotes, and educational appendices. An enjoyable browse for casual readers and Civil War buffs alike. For more serious students of history, such as historians, researchers, genealogists, Southern heritage interpreters, educators, living history actors, lecturers, sutlers, costume designers, and Civil War reenactors, this unique "picture book" provides and preserves not only important historical images, but supplemental information on the Confederate cabinet, the Confederate ranking system, and absorbing biographical details on Confederates from every walk of life. Destined to become a standard in Southern literature. Heroes of the Southern Confederacy is available in paperback and hardcover. (All text copyright (c) Sea Raven Press) Award-winning historian Lochlainn Seabrook is the author and editor of nearly 100 books, including: Abraham Lincoln Was a Liberal, Jefferson Davis Was a Conservative; Lincoln's War: The Real Cause, the Real Winner, the Real Loser; What the Confederate Flag Means to Me; The Unholy Crusade: Lincoln's Legacy of Destruction in the American South; The Great Yankee Coverup: What the North Doesn't Want You to Know About Lincoln's War; Confederacy 101: Amazing Facts You Never Knew About America's Oldest Political Tradition; Confederate Flag Facts: What Every American Should Know About Dixie's Southern Cross; The Bittersweet Bond: Race Relations in the Old South as Described by White and Black Southerners; Women in Gray: A Tribute to the Ladies Who Supported the Southern Confederacy; Everything You Were Taught About American Slavery is Wrong, Ask a Southerner!; Honest Jeff and Dishonest Abe: A Southern Children's Guide to the Civil War; The Constitution of the Confederate States of America Explained; A Rebel Born: A Defense of Nathan Bedford Forrest.

About the Author :
Neo-Victorian historian Lochlainn Seabrook, whose literary works range from astronomy to zoology, is one of the most prolific and popular writers in the world today. A descendant of the families of Alexander H. Stephens, John S. Mosby, Edmund W. Rucker, and William Giles Harding, he is known by literary critics as the "new Shelby Foote" and the "American Robert Graves," and by his fans as the "Voice of the Traditional South." The Sons of Confederate Veterans member is a Kentucky Colonel, a recipient of the prestigious Jefferson Davis Historical Gold Medal, and currently the author and editor of 100 scholarly books. Described by his readers as "game changers" and "life-altering," his voluminous writings have introduced hundreds of thousands to vital facts that have been left out of our mainstream books. A 7th generation Kentuckian of Appalachian heritage and the 6th great-grandson of the Earl of Oxford, Col. Seabrook has a 45-year background in American and Southern history, and is the author of the international blockbuster "Everything You Were Taught About the Civil War is Wrong, Ask a Southerner!"

Review :
"Award-winning historian Lochlainn Seabrook puts a human face on the government officials, military men, and everyday civilians of the Confederate States of America in this moving illustrated work comprising over 1,200 images from the 1800s and early 1900s. Heroes of the Southern Confederacy is sure to stir the heart of every Dixie soul. You will never be the same after witnessing these magnificent images." - THE PUBLISHER AMAZON REVIEW, FIVE STARS: "Excellent book!!! Was totally mesmerized by the faces, couldn't put it down! Really connects us to the past in a way that words can't! This book is a definite must-have for anyone that wants to see the history." - RICK CAMERON (Confederate Riders of America, Missouri) AMAZON REVIEW, FIVE STARS: "An encyclopedia of images of the Southern people, from the Civil War era. Haunting images of both leaders and common soldiers of the Confederacy, so many of whom perished in the bloody conflict. An amazing resource." - SD AMAZON REVIEW, FIVE STARS: "Never disappointed! Tons of pictures from the period. A delight to look through! Such a great addition to my collection from Mr. Seabrook and Sea Raven Press!" - SANDRA FISH ("Adopt-a-Soldier" National Coordinator for Confederate Riders of America) AMAZON REVIEW, FIVE STARS: "A must for all War Between the States buffs. This is not a regular historical work. It is primarily a photo history of hundreds (if not thousands) of Confederate officials, generals, soldiers, and civilians. The author, Mr. Seabrook, is very scholarly in his introduction and paves the way for an enjoyable experience. The photos are amazing and give a literal face to the conflict and those who were involved for the Confederacy. I highly recommend Heroes of the Southern Confederacy for every student of the War, especially the Confederacy." - DAVID A. VINSON EBAY REVIEW, FIVE STARS: "Fascinating, interesting & very detailed text; thrilled to get it; thanks much!" - MEMPHIS52 "I just got my copy of Col. Seabrook's book Heroes of the Southern Confederacy, and I literally can't stop looking through it!" - PRIVATE CORRESPONDENCE (SCV member, name withheld) "This volume is one of the best collections of photographs bound in one book concerning the personalities of the Southern Confederacy that I have ever seen and I am honored to own a copy." - WILLIAM HARDEMAN "I recently ordered Heroes of the Southern Confederacy and enjoyed it. Will be ordering more books from you in the future!" - PAULA DUGGER
