About the Book

With two all-original 20-page stories; one from writer Cullen Bunn with art by Andrea Mutti and the other from Mark London with art by Luisa Russo, Mad Cave’s first ever horror anthology uses the Grimm Fairy Tales as inspiration. In addition to industry stars like Christopher Sebela, Nadia Shammas, and Stephanie Phillips, this haunting anthology will feature over ten terrifying tales including three from the winners of Mad Cave’s 2020 talent search.

About the Author :
Cullen Bunn is a comic book writer for Mad Cave Studios (Grimm Tales From The Cave, and A Legacy of Violence), Oni Press (The Sixth Gun, The Damned, and The Tooth) and Marvel Comics (Wolverine, Spider-Man: Season One, and Fear Itself: The Fearless). He also writes short fiction and novels, including the middle reader horror novel, Crooked Hills. ?Cullen's short stories and non-fiction have appeared in dozens of magazines, anthologies, and e-zines. His noir/horror comic (and first collaboration with Brian Hurtt), The Damned, was published in 2007 by Oni Press. The follow-up, The Damned: Prodigal Sons, was released in 2008. Since then, Brian and Cullen have teamed up on The Sixth Gun, an ongoing supernatural western, and Cullen has also worked on several other projects for Oni Press, Marvel, and DC. ANDREA MUTTI is a comic book artist who started his career illustrating superhero comics in his native country, Italy. He has worked on a wide range of titles for various publishers including Marvel, DC, Vertigo, Dark Horse, Top Cow, IDW, BOOM! Studios, Adaptive, Dynamite, Stela, Titan, and Vault. With over 12 years of experience, Joana LaFuente worked on famous pop-culture titles such as The Transformers, Magic The Gathering, Steven Universe, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Adventure Time, and many more. Mark London’s central focus is to provide a compelling experience through action-driven storytelling and immense world building. Everything he does at Mad Cave is the result of a commitment he made to his amazing wife to pursue his passion and follow his dreams. Always read the best comics first. Stephanie Phillips is an American writer known for comics and graphic novels such as HARLEY QUINN, WONDER WOMAN: EVOLUTION, BATMAN: LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT, SENSATIONAL WONDER WOMAN, WE ONLY KILL EACH OTHER, BIRDS OF A FEATHER, and THE BUTCHER OF PARIS. She has taught writing and communication courses at the University at Buffalo, the University of South Florida, and the University of Tampa.   Nadia Shammas is a Palestinian-American comics and games writer from Brooklyn, NY now living in Toronto, Canada. She is best known for being the writer and co-creator of SQUIRE (HarperCollins), a Harvey Award winning YA Middle Eastern fantasy graphic novel co-created with Sara Alfageeh. Her other original work includes WHERE BLACK STARS RISE (Tor Nightfire), an adult eldritch horror graphic novella co-created with Marie Enger. She is also known for her work on MS. Anthony Cleveland began writing comics after departing from his position as County Coroner Deputy to pursue self-publishing. Shortly after, he was selected in Mad Cave Studios’ talent search and went on to write the hit series Show’s End, Stargazer, and a short in Grimm Tales from the Cave, a horror anthology showcasing many of today’s top talents in the genre. Her works include the critically acclaimed comic NIGHTMARE, SOUNDBOX: A Kamikaze Wall Tale, “Vessel”, Grimm Tales from The Cave and more. Malissa is a contributing writer to comic publications Comicon, The Valkryies blog, and Eisner winning Panel by Panel.  Her stories center black and brown women of color in science fiction, fantasy and horror. Sometimes Malissa writes about pain and trauma, getting it wrong and making things right. But mostly, Malissa writes about that certain joy of remembering who the fuck you are. Rowan MacColl is a comic artist who was born and raised in the New England fog. She loves her ink, her spooky folktales, and, of course, her four black cats. In embracing the full spectrum of his art, Volk has also embarked on his career as a professional comic book artist, winning Mad Cave Studios talent search in 2019. His first series is the medieval noir Nottingham with publisher Mad Cave Studios. This five-issue series has become a hit, with each issue receiving multiple printings. The success of Nottingham has brought Volk one step closer to a lifelong aspiration, to draw comics and make music his whole life - more art all the time! Val Hal Halvorson is a comic book creator and horror illustrator who almost never goes outside. He is the artist for the Vault series, Finger Guns, as well as various anthologies such as Dead Beats 2, and Grimm Tales from the Cave. In addition to illustrating, he also likes to write comics and he is not kind to his characters. He wrote and illustrated the short horror comic, Pareidolia, which was featured in Panel x Panel. Junji Ito once reviewed his work positively in a video for Vis Media and he'll never stop telling people about it. In his spare time, he consumes a ton of horror media, bakes a bunch of bread, and won't shut up about 90's FMV games. Luca Romano is an italian comics colorist, TTRPG enthusiast, and omnivorous metalhead. Luca is the colorist for Weft, but you may also know him as the colorist for Nottingham, his work with Advent comics, and/or other various indie projects he has worked on. As a young kid Luca spent too much time reading, playing cello and guitar, role playing, and gaming. He hasn’t stopped any of that yet, just added coloring to the list. Justin Birch is a Ringo Award-nominated letterer born and raised in the hills of West Virginia. Lettering comics since 2015, he is a member of the lettering studio AndWorld Design and has worked with AWA, Boom!, DC, Dark Horse, IDW, Image, Mad Cave Studios, and numerous indy publishers. She loves fantasy genres and is a sucker for anything involving wolves. When Rio isn’t working on art you can find her engrossed in a good book or video game, or hiking somewhere in Colorado getting her hands dirty while hunting for fossils and minerals.
