About the Book

Simple, Relational Disciple Making is a unique book in many ways. It's a book about how God can use common, ordinary followers of Jesus in everyday circumstances to advance His Kingdom. The book contains many real-life examples and impact stories of changed lives and even transformed communities. Ancient ways for modern times (concepts and principles of orality) will inspire the reader to consider the most effective ways that people have learned and communicated from the beginning of time. Even today, the majority of the world's population are considered oral learners, by necessity or by preference. The numerous stories and examples throughout the book support the idea that the orality movement is changing the face of missions around the world. The author's spiritual journey and experiences over the past five decades will help the reader to realize that common, ordinary believers can be effective communicators of the gospel and disciple makers. Readers will gain a greater awareness of the possibilities of advancing the cause of Christ in a wide verity of circumstances. They will also be challenged and motivated to live more godly lives and be faithful witnesses. The book brings a wealth of knowledge about the work of Christ, His presence in our lives and the creative work of the Holy Spirit. Biblical, understandable and reproducible are key themes throughout the book. Scripture engagement and spiritual formation have become important topics of discussion in recent days. Orality and oral art forms are also becoming topics of discussion among church, ministry and mission leaders. These are all addressed in the book. Readers will gain a greater awareness of how God is at work around the world and how each of us can enter into the redemptive activities of the Holy Spirit. Simplicity and reproducibility are key factors that make this a unique and powerful book.

Review :
"Jerry Wiles' book should inspire you to live a more godly life, be a faithful witness, introduce people to Christ, and equip others to do likewise. The many impactful stories and lessons are examples of how God can use ordinary followers of Jesus to become reproducing disciple makers. My hope and prayer is that the book gets into the hands of those with hungry hearts and a passion for the Kingdom of God and His righteousness." John C. Maxwell, Bestselling author, world's most influential leadership expert "Jerry Wiles has put together a treasure trove of stories, tools and practices that all lead to a single point-we are all meant to evangelize others and make disciples. It's just a matter of stepping into it all, and Jerry shows us how to do that." Patrick Lencioni, best-selling business author of The Five Dysfunctions of a Team "I was greatly inspired as I read my friend Jerry Wiles' new book 'Simple, Relational Disciple-Making'. The practical wisdom he shares is drenched in Scripture, built upon a lifetime of ministry, and applicable to anyone who loves Jesus and wants their life to make a difference. May God use this to help many experience the abundant life Jesus intended for us, and to raise up many more disciple-makers." Kevin Palau, President, Luis Palau Association "My good friend and fellow believer from the Jesus Revolution movement of the 1970s, Dr Jerry Wiles, has created a valuable tool for Relational Disciple-Making. He takes us into the methodology of first century believers that we will benefit from." Roy L. Peterson, Retired President/CEO American Bible Society and Wycliffe Bible Translators "Biographical rich, biblically fresh, and historically inspiring, Jerry Wiles gives us a treasure trove of evangelistic truth with a mega dose of gospel fervor. Jerry doesn't just teach it ... he lives it, and he is an inspiration and example to me as a pastor and friend. Jerry is an innovative thinker and practitioner of inviting others into a life with Jesus. Read this book now and be prepared to be convicted, convinced, and challenged to see the world outside your door with the simple truth that you are called to go and by any means available share. Reading this book could be the trimtab that changes the direction of your life." Dr. Jerry Edmonson, Founding and Lead Pastor, The Fellowship "Relationships find themselves central in the Trinity, Scripture, hermeneutics (narrative sections), evangelism, discipleship, leadership development, missions (Great Commission and Great Commandment). It therefore seems only natural that the Author's preferred mode of communication also be relational. Centered in relationships, that is why orality plays such a vital role in all ministries from evangelism to Bible translation to business as mission, theological education, etc. Join Jerry Wiles as he demonstrates Kingdom expansion around the globe through oral means. This book has the potential to transform you and your ministry." Tom Steffen, DMiss, is Professor Emeritus of Intercultural Studies, Cook School of Intercultural Studies, Biola University. Co-author of The Return of Oral Hermeneutic and Character Theology (forthcoming).
