About the Book
In Book 3: Star of Doom, Tanarul and Lumea receive a call for help from a remote cave beneath the Kalahari Desert where they meet more legendary members of their family, including the dreaded French Tarasque, Humbaba from Babylon, the Kalihari's Great Rainbow Serpent, the English Jabberwok, and a psychic race of tiny dragons called the Clarevoys. They learn of a great danger located at the highest mountain on the Continent. Along with their brave companion, Viorica, they journey to the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro. There, a young African Dragon named Ayo describes the grave situation; one that could affect the safety and even the very survival of every Dragon on Earth.Beyond the vast Transylvanian forests of Romania, hidden deep within undiscovered caves of the rugged Carpathian Mountains, are the homes of many of the oldest species of dragons on earth.
They have lived there thousands, some even millions of years.
The ancient Teacher of Dragons, Lumea Veche, and his eager young student, Tanarul, embark from their native Romania on a routine field trip to the greater world of Dragons. The two of them travel the globe, interviewing dozens of their family members, who relate classic dragon fables and legends from their own point of view. Along the way, however, they become aware that the humans who originally told the old tales have been destroying much more than their relatives' history.
The planet's delicate ecology is in shambles because of human neglect and interference. The polar ice caps are melting at an alarming rate. Then the dragons discover a threat unknown to any human. Beneath the ice caps, the hibernating Sea Dragon, Leviathan, has grown to the length of Ireland. Lumea, Tanarul, and the League of Dragons realize that the Sea Giant's stirring would cause tidal waves that could destroy the worlds of both humans and dragons. They also face the truth that the Dragons cannot solve the problem by themselves. To save the planet, a Dragon/Human Alliance must be formed.

Review :
"5 Stars - A great choice for dragon enthusiasts of any age!," By Maggie Knapp on April 29, 2017 LibrarianDragon-lovers are in for a treat! DRAGONS OF ROMANIA struck me as a sort of field guide for learning more about different types of dragons, from the highly imaginary, to those from literature, the Bible, and even Ollie (for those of my generation, who remember Kukla, Fran and Ollie from TV.) Author Charlie Rose ties the story together as elder dragon/teacher Lumea instructs dragon/student Tanarul and others in the history of dragon lore. Illustrator Dan Peeler's detailed black and white illustrations bring the dragons to life. They appear every 5-8 pages or so, adding lively visuals of the Tatzelworm Dragon, the Ghimpat, the speedy Fulger dragon, and many more.
Author Charlie Rose researched dragon lore in Romania and elsewhere, and his attention to details is apparent in the writing. The book includes a short glossary of Romanian terms. This book is the first in The League of Dragons series. A great choice for middle grade fantasy enthusiasts, or anyone of any age who wants to know more about dragons from literature, myth and the imagination.
Review by Michelle KellyParents and Educators on the hunt for young adult books; wait until you see what Dragons of Romania has to offer. First, it is a tremendous fictional read with good quality characters. Teacher (Lumea-Veche) and student (Tanarul) are the main focal point on a journey to learn the history of dragons; what's fact and what's myth. Their respectful relationship is very similar to one we saw grow in a certain wizard tale. As we, the readers, follow their journey we learn nonfiction facts about our Earth and world history, ecology, climatology, geography, and even endangered species. Oh, and have you heard of a dragon who has a cave full of computers and is capable of communicating to humans world-wide? Yes, even safety on the internet is covered. As a reptile and amphibian conservation enthusiast, I cannot speak highly enough about the lessons Dragons of Romania has to teach us. I cannot wait to read the next book, until then, happy reading.
