About the Book

Social, Emotional, Physical, and ever important Intellectual areas, are the bases for viewing every child's growth and development. I believe that by incorporating all these facets of the growing child can be a successful foundation in learning that will be achieved. And not just achieved, positive sense of self, good values in their view of others, and produces a frame work of thinking that will last their entire life. With the future in our children's hands, my philosophy of learning will provide them with confidence and tools needed to face the challenges ahead. Marvin Jacobson has worked and led the growth of Laurence School over the years into a larger 21st century school. He is recognized as an icon and leader in Elementary Education. He lives in Encino, California with his wife, Lynn and partner, in creating a school that has successfully served hundreds of children over the years.

Review :
"Marvin Jacobson's refined insights on educating the 'total child' will live on for generations as a profound heart-based teaching tool for both educators and parents." -Bob Danzig, Author of The Leader Within "Marvin Jacobson cherishes the life of every child, both mind and heart. He builds capacity and character. He is more than an educator; he is an inspiration." -Uri Herscher, CEO of Skirball Cultural Center "I have had the honor of working with Marvin Jacobson for over twenty-five years. He has an amazing gift to understand and identify the children at his school that need additional attention. Even when he refers children to me for assessment, he intuitively knows ahead of the testing whether the problem is emotional, educational or social. I am always impressed with his insightfulness and knowledge as well as his kindness and gentleness in helping children and their families." -Joan Browner, Ph.D Clinical Psychologist "Life is precious, and our relationships are built not on what we do, but who we are. Your care certainly echoes that, and I carry with me a fond regard for how special you are to so many people-not just me. Your kindness and support including to my family and me has created a warm, loving place to draw from." -Lee Goldsmith, Alumni Parent "Marvin Jacobson has changed the world as all greats do. One person at a time. I have seen his profound commitment and understanding of cultivating 'The Total Child' result in exceptional young adults who embrace their responsibility to themselves, their peers, and those in need. As a 23-year-old, his deep and earnest ideas of child education found a handful of parents who funded and entrusted their children's future to a one room schoolhouse. 60 years later, that schoolhouse has grown into an exemplary example of what raising the bar can do to impact society by nurturing the best in our next generation." -Paul Stanley, Alumni Parent
