About the Book

Messages from Multiverses are poems that travel many roads exploring alternate realities and the erosion of social consciousness. Some of those roads reach deep into distant galaxies, others deep within the human soul--all keenly aware that there is no right or wrong--only different roads that lead to the same place. When we realize that what unites us is stronger than what divides us, we will find that common place--one can only hope.

Review :
Messages From Multiverses is an important book that brilliantly questions a world in which "uncontrolled passion wars / with cold logic--a whirlpool / of imperfect balance" ("The Mind"). The conundrum of solutions is addressed: "everything imagined in a box / must fit in the box." ("Worlds Apart"). Prescience about the environment inhabits these poems ("dead men walking in circles / at the bottom of the world.") and raises semaphores warning how "...dawn crawls / into beehives of squinting eyes / where alarms buzz off / into another restless day." The poems rail against those who disregard: "Deathmakers come and go. / One by one, we'll eat them too." ("Why We Buzzards are Spoiled") and those who "mold a skyline of ruin / where even food for thought / is against the law." Despite everything, King remains narrowly hopeful: "the old war drum of my heartbeat / fading into the harmonies of songbirds" and imagines "the splinters of my old home / would be lumber for the new." --Joan Colby, author of many books, including Selected Poems. With a keen ear and startling economy, Robert S. King traverses the world of the ten thousand things. And whether it's plumbing the depths of common heartbreak, battling the nightmarish flames of environmental degradation, or challenging the consumerist status quo, King's voice is that of a wise and trusted friend, ensuring that no matter where you find yourself on the journey, "You may not walk alone." --Seth Jani, founder of SevenCircle Press, author of Night Fable.
