About the Book

In the modern world, businesses began focusing on competence in the work place after a 1973 study published by David McClelland, a Harvard professor in the Department of Psychology. McClelland believed that personality and IQ tests were poor indicators for how successful employees would be in the workplace. Instead, how motivated employees were to succeed determined how well they performed. Motivation, knowledge, skills and experience determined how competent they were and therefore, how successful they became. High performers were the most competent in the workplace and were to be emulated by the other employees. Within decades, competency-based metrics became the industry standard for interviewing and hiring employees. The successful coach is the professional who is able to guide clients into work-life balance to become the high performing, competent employess they can be. This book shows you, the coach, how to guide them on that journey.

About the Author :
Dr. Michael Commini, or Dr. C. as he is known among friends and colleagues, is a corporate consultant living and working in Saudi Arabia as a Competency Map Advisor for the world's largest oil, gas and energy company. He also serves as a Curriculum Advisor for the PetroSkills Alliance, lending his expertise in adult education to the creation and enhancement of competency maps for the oil, gas and energy industry. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Dr. C holds an MSc. in Education Media Design and Technology, a Th.M. and Ph.D. in Theology, an MSc. in Computer Science, and a Ph.D. in Education specializing in Instructional Design for Online Learning (IDOL). He finds it amusing that a theologian specializes in creating IDOLs for adult training and development. When not writing or working, he enjoys spending his time in reflection, walking and training his service dog, Diamond, and traveling to the many exotic locations God created. Robert E Smith aka Trebor H Tims, is founder and president of SEAHORSE Publications, a small press devoted to helping authors provide their work to a global audience. Decades invested in the identification and implementation of sustainable best practices uniquely qualifies Bob to author relevant topics that today's franchised and independent business leaders can immediately benefit from and put into action. His favorite interests are writing/performing music. He believes that people should be able to find enjoyment while on earth and as such very much enjoys 'entertaining' folks with his talents. Bob is also interested in ethical management, educational research, writing, reading, entertaining, Christian ministries and sitting on the beach anywhere on the east-side of Cozumel. Bob currently resides in Monte Vista, Colorado with his two small dogs. Dr. Richard K. Nongard is the President of the International Certification Board of Clinical Hypnotherapists (ICBCH).
