About the Book

When Erin MacKenna's high school canoe trip is disrupted by an earthquake separating her group from the main party, stumbles on two men burying a murder victim. She and a younger teen are kidnapped and held prisoners by known sexual predators, drug dealers and racketeers. Her father, architect Patrick MacKenna, must neglect his earthquake-stricken clients and drop everything to rescue her. In this suspenseful psychological drama, widowed architect Patrick MacKenna, while dealing with his own lingering trauma over the death of his beloved wife, fears Erin will bond with her captors in a self-imposed prison. Under their constant guard, she has little chance to contact the outside and escape. But due to a secret she can't even tell her father and her mistrust of him and the authorities, she is afraid a desperate call for outside help could result in a deadly showdown. Erin feels she must choose cooperation with the murderers and willfully seeks her own risky road to self-preservation. Only if she and her friend can escape and father and daughter can reconcile will they be able to put their heads together to catch these criminals and restore order both to their own lives and to their tremor-ravaged city.

About the Author :
Peter H .Green, Writer, architect and city planner, reared in a family of journalists, writes architectural mystery, suspense and World War II history. In his career as an architect, Peter has witnessed enough close calls, suspicious acts and outright skullduggery to lure him into writing mysteries. He also loves to delve in history and the secrets he finds hidden in the past, buried underground, as decided out of the public eye by shadowy figures familiar with the city's critical infrastructure Peter found his father's 400 World War II letters, his humorous war stories, his mother's writings and his family's often hilarious doings too good a tale to keep to himself, so he launched a second career as a writer. After years of architectural work and proposal writing for his design firms, he went back to Washington University to study creative writing with such accomplished authors as Catherine Rankovic, Robert Earleywine and Rick Skwiot, resulting in the release in 2005 of his World War II biography on the humorous antics and serious achievements of his father's military adventure, Dad's War with the United States Marines, James A. Rock & Co., Seaboard Press (Florence, SC). In 2012 his first mystery, Crimes of Design, was published by L & L Dreamsell, London, TX. His first two works, including the totally revised Ben's War with the U. S. Marines, were reissued in 2014 by Greenskills Press.
