About the Book

BEGINNING VISUAL C# is a semester long self-study step-by-step programming tutorial consisting of 10 chapters explaining (in simple, easy-to-follow terms) how to build a Visual C# Windows application. Students learn about project design, the Visual C# toolbox, and many elements of the Visual C# language. Numerous examples are used to demonstrate every step in the building process. The tutorial also includes several detailed computer projects for students to build and try. These projects include a number guessing game, card game, allowance calculator, drawing program, state capitals game, and a couple of video games like Pong. We now include several college prep projects including a loan calculator, portfolio manager, and a checkbook balancer. BEGINNING VISUAL C# is presented using a combination of over 400 pages of course notes and actual Visual C# examples. No prior programming experience is necessary, but familiarity with doing common tasks using Microsoft Windows is expected. Beginning Visual C# requires the Microsoft Windows 10 operating system. This tutorial also requires the free Community Edition or Professional Edition of Microsoft Visual Studio 2015. This tutorial is not compatible with Visual Studio 2019. The Visual C# source code solutions and all needed multimedia files are included in the compressed download file available from the Publisher's website (KidwareSoftware.com) after book registration.

I love how easy to read your tutorials are! - Maria Gilbert "As a beginning computer science teacher the Kidware Software tutorials helped me establish a good pace and provide some base work for some key concepts." - James Kissick, High School Computer Science Teacher "I successfully taught my 8th Grade grandson how to program in C# using Philip Conrod's beginning Visual C# programming tutorial. I am a retired software engineer who is well versed in C# and I wanted to use it to get my grandson exposed to programming. When I told him about the book he got excited about being able to write and play games. Using this book was a wonderful experience for me as a teacher. He was able to proceed at his own pace with very little guidance needed from me. The book is a really great resource for someone wanting to learn the C# language on their own. My grandson said that he got some real life lessons out of it as well. I think this came from his learning to think in the structured manner programming requires. By the end of the school year he felt he had obtained a very good grasp of the fundamentals of C# and that the book had made it really easy. We both highly recommend this book for those wanting to learn C# in a fun game orientated setting!" - Scott Adams, Pioneering Game Programmer, Scott Adams Grand Adventures
