Become unstuck, your way BECOMING UNSTUCKTrust yourselfUse simple toolsHonor your wisdomConnect with the clan of writersFind your strengthFLOATSAMPLE REVIEWS- I expect every reader will have their favorites - some of mine were "Eye On The Why"; "Fence Yourself In"; "Fire The Editor," and "Tell Me A Story." One can learn from Anne's fine work even if one is not stuck. Ed Hess, Professor Emeritus, Darden School of Business, University of Virginia - Disruptions in my routine are hell on my writing life. So, I'm proactively turning to Anne Carley's book FLOAT. She writes about the tension writers face between their need for connection and time alone with their projects. Often, it's the tension between these poles, or an imbalance between them, that causes stuckness. Lisa Cooper Ellison - I might just flip it open at random to choose one of the exercises/tools just for the heck of it and to keep the writing muscles limber. Also, there's a terrific section of inspirational quotations in the back. Clifford Garstang - An amazingly organized, easy to follow "tool kit" for all aspiring writers, helping one to navigate through the fog of one's own distractions and insecurities. Terry Samala de Guzman - FLOAT in Anne Carley's hands is a wonderful key to a whole system of helpful tools, insights, and strategies to get you over that initial (and often repeating) hump. Highly recommended for budding, unpublished, and published authors alike! David Clive Price - FLOAT is a book filled with magic presented in the form of tools. I had a hard time thinking of anyone who would not benefit from this book - artist, engineer, or manager. The gentle, wise guidance offered to readers is not only helpful, it is a delight to read. About the Author :
A M (Anne) Carley, author of FLOAT - BECOMING UNSTUCK FOR WRITERS, knows both sides of the "becoming unstuck" experience: as a writer and as a creativity coach who helps authors complete and polish their writing projects. In FLOAT, Anne has curated best practices for overcoming challenges in writing, and arranged her observations and insights into the framework she calls the FLOAT Approach. Useful as a quick fix, or as a longer practice in writerly awareness, the book begins with this epigraph: Becoming Unstuck: Trust yourself. Use simple tools. Honor your wisdom. Connect with the clan of writers. Find your strength.

Review :
A wonderful reference book for writers, not about what to write but how to get it on the paper. It helps you explore how writing can be better and easier.A writer's best friend -- besides a cat! Anne Carley provides valuable tools for helping boost a writer's creativity as well as getting one out of that dreaded writer's block. FLOAT is an acronym and a clever method for writers to help them be the best at what they do! An easy to read format, much more than a "how to" book, it has a complementary workbook. If you are a writer who has ever felt stalled in your project, this book is for you. I'm taking an email course that accompanies the book. It is not only chock-full with tips and tricks, it is accomplished in little time, without being overwhelming. I highly recommend checking it out!FLOAT is a fast read with practical insights and helpful tools. I would highly suggest FLOAT to any aspiring writer who wants to produce high quality content.FLOAT teaches you to be gentle with yourself and learn where you set your limits, boundaries, fears. Then it helps you to push beyond all these blockages and improve your writing process, and with it your writing.I was pretty blown away by how completely helpful this is going to be for a whole helluva lot of people. I haven't been butt-to-chair writing for many years, but it makes me want to start again. I feel like, with a tool like this, the process wouldn't be nearly as amorphous. I would say to others, If you are a writer or want to write, you need this little volume on your desk. Period. You should read about one tool before you sit down to write. Every day.I just wish I'd had this book two years ago when I was writing my own book! I was getting 'stuck' all the time and couldn't see my way forward! I'm glad I did it, but it was not an easy project. But even just glancing through FLOAT I see fun and inviting chapter headings...most of which would have been so helpful to me when I was stumbling my way through the writing process. I bought FLOAT because I'm thinking about writing again, but this time I'll have it nearby as a calming, guiding and encouraging companion.Anne Carley's FLOAT is a book filled with magic presented in the form of tools to help writers get unstuck. I had a hard time thinking of anyone who would not benefit from this book - be they artist, engineer, or manager wanting to motivate their staff. The gentle, wise guidance offered to readers is not only helpful, it is a delight to read. Do yourself and your friends a favor - get and give this book!A must have for authors of all varieties. Actually for all artists, as well. Practical yet fun with real world steps to figuring out the next step in your project. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed by obligations or whether you feel abandoned in your efforts to bring your words to life, the FLOAT method has something for you. I hope the author eventually offers seminars on the FLOAT process. I would like to attend.A practical, inspiring keeper of a writing book. Carley's exercises and encouragements are a must-have for the writers' shelf. If you've ever felt stuck with your work, this book will help you break free and write the words the world needs.
