About the Book

One Third of Your Stomach is a return to eating with wisdom, restraint, and consciousness, rooted in Prophetic guidance and supported by modern nutritional science.

The book centres on the timeless teaching of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ that the human being should fill one third of the stomach with food, one third with water, and leave one third for breath. Rather than presenting this as a rule of restriction, the book reframes it as a biological, emotional, and spiritual design for optimal health.

From a naturopathic perspective, the book explains how chronic overfilling of the stomach disrupts digestion, blood sugar regulation, hormonal balance, gut microbiota, nervous system tone, and emotional regulation. It connects overeating to inflammation, fatigue, anxiety, reflux, insulin resistance, and spiritual heaviness, especially in modern food environments that promote excess and speed.

At the same time, the book is deeply compassionate. It recognises emotional eating, trauma, stress, motherhood, cultural pressures, and food scarcity narratives. It gently guides readers toward awareness rather than guilt, teaching how to listen to satiety cues, eat slowly, honour hunger, and rebuild trust with the body.

The spiritual dimension is woven throughout. Eating less is not framed as virtue signalling or deprivation, but as a way to restore presence, gratitude, and clarity. When the stomach is not constantly overloaded, the heart softens, prayer becomes lighter, sleep deepens, and intuition sharpens.

In essence, One Third of Your Stomach is not about dieting. It is about alignment. Alignment with the body's physiology, the soul's need for balance, and the Sunnah as a living, compassionate blueprint for modern health.
