About the Book

My poems don’t fit any particular genre, type or style; the collection has been written over a number of years and is delightfully diverse.  You will meet indifferent bees, the ghostly shapes of junior trout, the Gentile at the door of the Last Supper, a soldier doing his best, and be able to walk with me on a shining pathway of stars.  My verse may amuse, stimulate and even  possibly challenge you. At times whimsical, it is sometimes philosophical and even theological and in one section reflects my time in the military.  Please dive in and enjoy.

Review :
Robert Plummer’s collection of poems in his new book In Verse Reflections is luminous and quietly understated. Plummer beckons the reader into a cosy, yet intricate, journey of memory and we turn each page with renewed admiration with each new piece. Plummer has a wonderfully observant eye, and his writing reflects the gentleness with which he views our foibles, achievements, hopes and desires. He has clearly reached deeply into his memory, and his own search for meaning. Plummer has an eye that sees clearly but which is never harsh—His voice is wry, thoughtful and often beautifully tender. Plummer keeps his language and use of form accessible to every reader and there is nothing highbrow about his work. He evokes the delicate silence of a misty morning, the anguished realities of a slowly creeping loss of a mind in “While I Remember,” or the unexpectedly sly companionship of a computer in “The Better Half?”, his poetry paints scenes that are both weighty and lightly rendered.
