About the Author :
Annie Page & Tracy Simpson – Founders of Kernow Mantrailing Annie Page and Tracy Simpson have been mantrailing since 2017 and bring years of experience in both sport and operational search work. They are co-founders Cornwall Search Dogs established in 2020 and developed Kernow Mantrailing in 2024 in order to share their expertise with others who want to explore the art and science of trailing work with their dogs. Both are qualified through the British Mantrailing Academy and Mantrailing Scent Dogs to search for missing dogs and people in rural and urban environments. Their shared passion is helping handlers and dogs build genuine partnerships based on trust, communication, and teamwork – the kind of connection that develops when you learn to follow your dog’s lead. As active members of Cornwall Search Dogs, Annie and Tracy understand the discipline, patience, and joy of real-world mantrailing – where teamwork, trust, and a good sense of humour matter just as much as skill. Away from this, Annie is a UK Athletics Endurance Running Coach who loves spending time on the trails, and Tracy is a Open Water Swimming Coach, happiest when she’s in the sea. About Annie Annie is an Expert Mantrailing Instructor with the British Mantrailing Academy and holds the Mantrailing Scent Dogs Lead Trainer Certificate (Level 4). She also holds an IQ Level 3 Award in Education and Training (QCF). A qualified trainer and coach, Annie has extensive experience in training and supporting people to achieve their goals. She brings a focus on practical learning, understanding theory, and fostering connection between handler and dog. Her current dog, Lyla, began her mantrailing journey in 2024 and is already following in the footsteps of Annie’s previous search dog, Lexi. About Tracy Tracy is a Mantrailing Sports Instructor with the British Mantrailing Academy and holds the Mantrailing Scent Dogs Level 3 Certification. Her dog, Holly, is fully qualified with Skills for Justice for operational search work and has been an integral part of Cornwall Search Dogs’ response team. Tracy brings an analytical yet empathetic approach to training – with extensive experience in leadership, her work as an NVQ Assessor, and her qualifications in training and supporting people underpinning this. She balances structure with intuition, combining an understanding of the science of scent with a deep respect for the subtleties of human–canine communication. Shared Work Together, Annie and Tracy combine experience, humour, and a deep respect for the intelligence of dogs. Their teaching is grounded, evidence-based, and human in tone – making mantrailing accessible for those who want to have fun, build confidence, and strengthen the partnership that lies at the heart of every great trail. They continue to develop Kernow Mantrailing as a space for learning, exploration, and shared discovery – for dogs, handlers, and anyone drawn to the magic of following a trail.
