When basic needs are implicit, power, sex, and ego
become the commodities of craving, driving some people to go way beyond the
boundaries of acceptability to achieve their fix.
Tom Taylor was one such
individual. He had everything. A beautiful and loving wife, a successful
publishing company, and all the money needed to fund a substantial house,
luxury cars, and a yacht, but for Tom that was not enough. He needed the
attention of a mistress, a much younger woman who would stroke his ego and
satisfy his demand for extramarital sex. It was exciting living on the edge.
What he hadn't bargained for was her falling in love with him.
Tom's story is not unique. He was handsome, charismatic,
charming, and a social magnet. He drew people in. Friends and acquaintances
were in abundance and business deals invariably went his way. As the
relationship with his mistress evolved she became more challenging. She wanted
him to herself demanding he divorce and marry her. Tom's mistake was to promise
her he would do just that but had no intention of leaving the woman he loved.
About the Author :
In my early
career I joined a multi-national pharmaceutical company where I discovered the
world of marketing and PR and soon identified a passion for writing. After a
few job changes working in the sector I was fortunate enough at the age of 29
to secure the position of General Manager of a privately owned multi-faceted group
of companies.
Two years
later and married with two young children I resigned my lucrative job to establish
my own advertising and marketing agency in Hertfordshire and latterly in London.
Luck was on my side. The industry was booming and within three years I had secured
a number of major blue-chip clients. Twelve years later the business was sold
to a global communications agency.
Since that
time I have held senior management and board director positions in
pharmaceuticals, optics, and more recently the hearing care industry where, in
a part-time capacity I continue to chair an association representing a group of
global companies. My career gave me an opportunity to travel widely often
speaking at national and international conferences.
Family life,
business, public speaking, tennis and travel have dominated my life but not to
the exclusion of other interests.
Over the decades I have written thirteen stage
plays and several novels which up until now have languished on my laptop.
