About the Book

The Adventures of Drip the Drop Join Drip the Drop on his exciting adventures through the never-ending journey of the water cycle. In this story he visits the beautiful Channel Islands, Jersey and Guernsey. ...Sometimes I am invisible. Sometimes I'm mist or fog. I've been splashed by yellow wellies and shaken by a dog. I've been part of a snowman a rainbow and a tear, floated in a bubble - and all in just one year. Drip has been frozen in a glacier for what seems like ever and all he wants to do is find out what happens to his friends in the ocean, in the clouds, rivers and reservoirs - and everywhere else that water goes. When his glacier starts to melt his dreams come true and he has the most amazing time discovering what it's like to be free - and sometimes salty! Why choose The Adventures of Drip the Drop? You'll feel you're discovering one of the most amazing things in nature - the water cycle. Written in beautiful flowing rhyme, it makes every aspect of Drip's journey accessible to young children and it's scientifically accurate, so very useful for students and teachers alike. The glossary is full of simple explanations for the more technical terms, as well as lots of ideas to make children think about something none of us can live without! Get your copy of The Adventures of Drip the Drop today, and explore the wonders of nature first hand with an adventurous friend - Drip. Why rhyme? Rhyme engages children in a way that straight prose doesn't. Studies show that children who are exposed to rhyming books are more likely to develop strong literacy skills, including phonemic awareness, vocabulary and sentence construction. When children listen to rhyme, they are learning without even realising it-everything from word patterns to sentence structure. Rhymes have been introducing children to the wonderful world of words since the first nursery rhymes were written and recited in the 1500s! Not only does Drip the Drop entertain, but it also helps your child's brain to grow. Get your copy of The Adventures of Drip the Drop today, and enjoy exploring the wonders of nature first-hand with your adventurous friend - Drip.

About the Author :
My passion for English and creative writing is what initially fired my interest in a career in marketing, where writing covered everything from drafting articles and other pieces for the C Suite, to press releases and internal communications. I have also always had a particular flair for rhyme, which I've applied commercially during my career for radio commercials, and to writing lyrics for a local musician. Rhyme is a wonderful way of educating and entertaining children at the same time. It makes things like sentence construction, word patterns, phonemics and vocabulary so accessible. I'm sure there was a lot more rhyme around when I was young, and I am determined to change that! Friends and family have often suggested that I write children's books but until a few years ago I hadn't given it much thought. My first story was inspired by my then three-year old granddaughter and since then, in partnership with my long-time friend and illustrator, Mark Holley, I have written several others. Apart from the joy of seeing the stories beautifully illustrated and in print, there's not much I enjoy more than reading my stories in local schools and the library, which I do as often as I can. We currently have three genres, and one of our stories, The Adventures of Drip the Drop, which is about the water cycle, is being used in schools in both Science and English lessons, which is very exciting! When I was at school I realised I could draw cartoons and paint, which was handy because I didn't particularly enjoy anything else, apart from sport! I studied art at college in the UK and was inspired by an eclectic mix of established artists. I returned to Jersey to pursue a career initially in graphic design, and now spend my days doing various things from graphic design for corporate clients to private commissions and developing my own equally eclectic mix of work. As well illustrating Jennie's books!I've almost always been self-employed and have been really lucky to have had a good career doing what I love. I'm never happier than when I'm sketching, designing and painting - either commissions for clients or, more recently, portraits of icons like Frank Sinatra and Amy Winehouse for a local exhibition. I worked with Jennie Jewell in a professional capacity for some years before she asked me to illustrate her first rhyming story. Bringing a story to life is really enjoyable and we have formed a good partnership, producing eight titles together to date, so far in three different genres.

Review :
"I think it is a really lovely idea and beautifully executed." Primary School Teacher, Jersey "I really liked the story of the water cycle. It was really nice and fun." Patrick, aged 8 "Children learn about the water cycle in Year 4, and it's important that they really understand it, which they certainly will do from reading Drip the Drop. The story is beautifully illustrated, written in rhyme and full of rich text, which helps children with their literacy skills across the whole curriculum." Primary School Teacher, Jersey
