About the Book

This is a collection of poems written across a year by the members of Lis' Poetry Place - a group of difference men and women who gather together once a month to listen to each others poems and have a good chat. Lis McDermott is the leader and leads the members through different aspects of the poetry world. We welcome all levels of poetry writers and we are not a stuffy group.

About the Author :
Lis McDermott was born and raised in Leicester, UK. She now lives in Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire with her husband. She trained as a musician and had a successful career working in music education for 34 years. During this time, she co-authored (as Lis Fletcher) along with Mary Edwards, Nelson Music which is a music scheme in three volumes for primary schools. In 2008 she changed careers, and set up her own photography business. She successfully managed to marry her twin passions - photography and people. In 20414 Lis became an author in her own right when she wrote and published 'Headshot Diva', and has since had work published in other anthologies. She is particularly proud of her first attempt at a short story being successful in it's inclusion, alongside other competition winners, in a short story anthology. In 2017 Lis published her own book of short stories, Changing Lives: 8 short stories. Her latest books are, Mixed Feelings, an autobiography, and poetry: A Tilted View, Lis' Little Book of Limericks and Blossom Falls. A couple of years ago Lis decided to use her writing experience to mentor other writers and now supports new writers through their writing journey. Through this new venture of mentoring Lis has taken her passion for poetry to start Lis' Poetry Place a monthly meeting group that encourages new and developing poets to show off their skills in this art of writing.
