About the Book

This suspense thriller is based in contemporary South Africa, touching on Transnistria. A love story, sex, violence, gangsters, corporate politics, drugs, money laundering, corruption, betrayal, sex trafficking and illegal arms dealing are all somehow connected. The events transpire over a few months and culminate in a tense build up to a distorted and surprising ending. In the first chapter Robert Winter becomes an instant hero by stopping a bank robbery in Cape Town and saving Adrianna from possible kidnap. She's a woman that he is immensely attracted to but has not yet formerly met. That same day, Commissioner Joseph Maladzi is credited with a major drug bust. These drugs will be used to pay off a debt created by Alfie Morgan. Alfie is laundering cash for an East European bank called Lichtenstein Financial Investments (LFI). Part of this cash has gone missing hence the drug bust to raise cash. Alfie and Joseph are in cahoots. Joseph uses Alfie to re-distribute illegal drugs and weapons confiscated in major police busts. He protects Alfie in return for bribes. Jurgen Hammer Schmidt fronts as a banker (LFI) but washes money for financiers of drug distribution, war mongers and people/sex traffickers. He is also a link man, matching buyers and sellers, sometimes using pressure to achieve his objectives. A perfect example would be pushing Alfie into an illegal business relationship with Avi Immelman by getting Joseph to leverage the drug bust money, forcing Alfie into the deal. Alfie is not aware that Avi is more than just a "business partner". After Robert becomes a household name, Alfie hires him against Joseph's advice. Alfie suspects that Joseph is undermining him by doing deals on the side. Robert soon learns about Alfie's illegal activities and wants to resign but Joseph uses Robert as an "informant" against Alfie. Robert stays in Alfie's employ to please Joseph and clear his name after realizing he's working for a nefarious gangster. Robert and Adrianna experience a very public and embarrassing moment, the emotions that have been simmering are finally expressed through a passionate consummation. David Pierce works for Champion Cellular. He found his wife cheating on him the day after his biggest client had a heart attack and died. This client was Stan Goldsmith. Stan was laundering money for Alfie. David is secretly in love with Sharon Goldsmith, Stan's widow. After being run out of Champion, he gets into a sexual relationship with the beautiful widow. David is thrust back into the cellular industry and learns about the missing laundered money that Stan supposedly stole. David and Sharon go about running the business and looking for the R100m. They continue to launder money for Alfie. David has to find a creative way to increase the company's capacity to launder, having fully committed to Sharon. Robert is later persuaded to work towards freeing Svetlana and bringing Alfie and the Police Commissioner to justice. Robert is eventually forced back into a conflict situation in a race against time to rescue Svetlana, a sex slave tricked into bondage, working in one of Alfie's more "discreet" clubs. Jurgen has to resolve some business "issues" in a twisted series of intense events. Having been asked to help rescue Svetlana, Robert is drawn into an even larger investigation, bigger than he could ever have imagined. He later returns to Cape Town, his heightened state of delirium is cut fantastically short; he must now deal with what is possibly his deepest emotional crisis. We are left with a few thought provoking questions.

About the Author :
Robin Gerard Alexander is currently working as a teacher, teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) in South Korea. Robin's been in South Korea for over three years now and has used this opportunity to follow a passion he's always had but never had the time to pursue, writing. He is also interested in script/screenplay writing; he initially completed Part One of Bingo Bango as a script. Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Robin studied a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Economics and Marketing) while working in the banking and cellular industries in South Africa. He's worked as a cellular account manager in the cut and thrust of Johannesburg where most of this novel is set. With a business inclined mind, Robin has always tried to follow geopolitics trying to understand foreign policy and hidden agendas. Using his banking and cellular experience, Robin has used this as a point of departure to explore other concerns that are of global interest and to provoke thought. No adult thriller would be complete without a good smattering of action, sex and romance either. Admittedly not the biggest fiction reader he has always wanted to write good quality easy reading novels that people can relate to, that they can enjoy, clearly visualize and maybe even learn a few new facts from. Robin likes nothing better than being at a braai (BBQ) with friends and watching a game of rugby with a cold beer in hand.
