Review :
Making the leap to launch a dream is fraught with risk and fears. Marcelo Bravo’s new book provides a very practical and personal roadmap. Go ahead and jump! Pragmatic and refreshing, it integrates the rigour of the engineer scientist with the practical experience of the School of Hard Knocks. I’ll share copies with my colleagues and give a copy to each one of our CEOs, past, present and future. Marcelo is an imaginative and creative thinker, and a successful entrepreneur. This book is a great trip through his experiences, with very practical insights into what to actually do to achieve success in science based entrepreneurship. A very engaging book, which resonated strongly with my experiences in building early stage biotech companies. It captures the passion and challenges of being an entrepreneur, as well as providing great insights and practical advice. Before the term ‘Lean start-up’ had emerged Marcelo Bravo was doing exactly that, and in this accessible and candid book shows how it can be done. Marcelo has woven his practical insights into an enjoyable read that unearths many gems. This book presents some thought- provoking and compelling ideas on how to mitigate the risks involved in establishing and growing high- tech companies in a fast moving technological world. As someone currently establishing a biotechnology company many of these ideas and perspectives could not have come at a better time!
