About the Book

Every once in a while, God and Lucifer visit the earth and make a wager. Now it's time for the next one; the most daring yet, and quite possibly the last. "This venture to live as men for a full year had been such a hilarious idea to start with. Prove Abe wrong... again... then head back to their respective domains and gloat about it forever. Only it hadn't worked out that way. Things were different now. Having omniscient sight removed from him actually made Nick see things more clearly than he ever had. There's harm in getting too close to a picture, but a different sort of harm comes from getting too far away from it." What starts as a simple contest becomes something more as their newfound humanity forces them to revaluate their relationship not only with the world, but with each other as father and son. Seen through the eyes of two men, on opposing sides of a family feud of epic proportions, each of them faces trials, heartache, love and real pain as they learn what it means to be human. Can old wounds ever really be closed? Can the past truly be forgiven? And can anyone ever fall so far that it's too late for them to be caught? "After the fall? You rise."

About the Author :
Lex Jones was born and raised in Sheffield, north England, in 1985. A keen writer from a young age, he was always fascinated with the supernatural and is obsessed with stories. He loves films, books, theatre, video games, graphic novels, anything with a good story that captures the imagination. His books tend to have a supernatural (or at least 'unusual') undercurrent, as this moves them away from the more boring aspects of real life.

Review :

5 out of 5 Stars: Incredible.
By darylon 22 November 2016
I'm not sure where I first saw this book but I was intrigued by the cover so much so that I had a nosey. God and the Devil spending a year on Earth as humans? Great concept and right up my street.
The first thing to hit me was the beauty of the writing. It flows amazingly well and the dialogue is really on point. There are few debut novels I've read that start out well and lose their way halfway through. Not the case with this book. The characters are so convincing they draw you completely into the tale. This is a skill that most writers take years to perfect. Lex Jones just nails it. I will certainly be keeping an eye out for future works. A really enjoyable five stars.

5 out of 5 Stars: Fantastic! A must read.

I really enjoyed this book! I loved the characters and their development, I liked how it questioned the belief system of people, and how it can become so twisted after centuries of stories being diluted. I love the beauty in the description. It's really worth reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars: Highly recommended

I bought this book on a friends recommendation. The concept of the story is fresh and unique, the writing style draws you in and the characters are easy to get attached too. I can't explain why it's such a good book without spoilers so all I will say is give this book a go, it's a clever and interesting debut novel and I would highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars: A must read!!!

I don't find the time to read as often as I'd like, but this book had me hooked!!! Every character, every setting is beautifully constructed, while the relationships between the main characters are relatable on so many different levels. To follow Nick and Abe through the various twists and turns of their 'journey' has been both compelling and moving - I didn't want it to end!

5.0 out of 5 stars: Fantastic

Nick and Abe is by far the best thing I've read this year. I absolutely loved it, within the first chapter I was enthralled. I didn't want to put the book down and as I devoured each page I made the excuse of "Just to the end of this paragraph, this page...this chapter".

Our main characters Nick and Abe are playing a game, live like "them", feel like "them", who can learn the most?

"Them" is us, the little people, mankind and they are something else, something bigger.

I was bereaved when I came to the end of this book, I had been consumed by their adventure, picturing the characters which had formed in my head, feeling their emotions and turmoil....and then.. they were gone. The story had ended and I just didn't know how to feel.

The writing in this book is fantastic, the depth of the characters, especially Nick shows just how much thought went into this book. The references to a particularly well-known story, a tale older than time - if you will, are fantastic and whilst you can see where the author is going it doesn't spoil the adventure. This book is not so much about surprise or shock value as it is the detail built into everything. You know the twist very early in fact, I'm just being dumb on purpose so that you have to read it for yourself.
