About the Book

They're talented acrobats, they're gay, and they're deeply in love. United in their relentless pursuit of physical excellence, and tenderly exploring their sexuality, two British boys who find themselves uprooted to the USA embark on their personal voyage of discovery. Joining a caring community with like-minded friends, they add their considerable performance skills to a touring mini-circus which, in the second volume of this trilogy, will take them halfway around the world. 'Loving the Boy', this first part, starts with a flash forward in time, finding the troupe in hospital in Edinburgh after a bizarre shooting incident: it seems that neither the love nor the community can protect them from a cynical and twisted mind for whom, after a chance encounter, they become at first targets and then victims. Even when that point is again reached at the end of part two, 'The Power of Love', we discover that there is much behind this very public and irrational shooting still to be explained. 'Loving the Boy' ends with the two heroes taking a momentous and lifechanging decision. The 'Living the Dream' trilogy weaves the parallel strands of circus life and thriller together within a tender and frank exploration of gay love.

About the Author :
The author is not 'Tony Cavanagh', the hero and narrator of this book, but 'Tone' is so much what he maybe could have been... perhaps, even, should have been... Just as Tone takes a momentous decision at the end of Loving the Boy, the writer took an equally life-focussing decision which shaped for him a very different destiny from the one described herein. As a result, the author follows a 'straight' family life and hides behind this pseudonym, his alter ego Tone playing out the dream on his behalf, whilst he followed a different career as a practising scientist, albeit with an addiction to fitness and the sports described within, but never practised at competition or professional levels. Somehow, narrative writing comes easily to the real 'Tony Cavanagh'; after years of writing turgid and unfathomable scientific reports and, encouraged by the response after exposing some early chapters on an internet forum, 'Living the Dream' has expanded to a trilogy, of which this first volume is also the author's first published novel. It was largely created during business travel on trains and planes, in airport lounges and in lonely hotel rooms. The author lives 'in the middle of nowhere' in Wales.
