About the Book

Angry, abused as a child, termed by some a 'psycho', and subject to utterances of questionable nature, Jack is no normal teenager - ergo the likelihood of the reader warming to this troubled hero of The Broken is remote indeed - yet so compelling and heart-rending is his story that one cannot help but respond to him. James Miles has produced a modern and thought-provoking piece of writing with very credibly portrayed characters whom he brings to life in an authentic way. Rather than viewing the many escapades and often unsociable behaviour of his confused protagonist with distaste, one actually feels an affinity with him. Underlying all his bravado and at times violent actions, Jack only wants to love and be loved, and with only his long time friend Mike and his beloved Mother on his side, Jack struggles with his inner mental conflicts alone until he finally finds romance. But will the object of his desires be able to help him - or merely add to his confusions? This is a very touching, moving story of a young man's inner conflicts which is bound to touch the hardest of hearts, and to which many modern youngsters of today will be able to relate. Mr. Miles shows great insight into the psychological workings of the younger mind, and we look forward to his next book, The ReaperA", upon which he is currently working. Warning: some of the language in this book may offend.

About the Author :
A born again Christian hailing from Nottingham in the U.K., James Miles first developed his urge to write a novel from watching the works of Stephen King on T.V. when his childhood dreams of a career in pugilism were abandoned in favour of his taking up the pen. By the time he was 14 he was living in Grimsby (where he still resides) and writing his first short stories with the ultimate novel ever in his mind. Unable to choose between a romantic novel, a drama, or a horror story, he finally settled on writing The BrokenA" - a compelling and inspiring story of a teenage boy's struggles with inner conflicts and mental problems stemming from his being abused as a child. After many false starts and the loss of his original draft due to computer failure the completed work is finally published, and is an easy to read page-turning book. When not reading or writing James likes to watch movies and has a particular penchant for documentaries and films with a religious connotation. He is currently working on his second novel The ReaperA"a horror/thriller which, based upon this first sample, we are certain promises to be another gripping and enthralling tale.
