In Volume One, the author described his early days following his birth to a poor family in the slums and backstreets of London's East End Docklands and how, despite many obstacles, he managed to attain a successful position as Director of Sales and Distribution of all Czechoslovak confectionery items in the UK. In that volume he gave a nostalgic description of London as it used to be before the war, during the war, and after the war as well as events and incidents which went on behind the Iron Curtain during the height of the Cold War. In Volume Two, the author takes up where Volume One ended and we read about further instances of communist control over the people of Czechoslovakia and what happened to those he knew under that system. Furthermore there are a number of other incidents, coincidences, adventures and human stories which occurred in this period which will be of interest to almost everybody and which the author describes in great detail. Of particular interest will be how, accepting he wanted to run his own company, he struck out on his own and started an organisation importing and distributing confectionery in the UK. Without substantial assets he managed to achieve the formation of this company and it grew into a very successful business. The author describes the problems he came up against and how he managed to overcome them. Finally, he describes how he and his wife tire of the "rat-race" and reach a decision in 1985 to retire early, and either sell, or liquidate their business. They do so and build their dream villa in Spain where they enjoyed nine wonderful years. The author describes their lives there and explains why they decided to return to England to live in 1994. Today, the author lives happily but quietly in a medium sized village in Devon together with his wife. He writes a lot to friends and family in different parts of the world, enjoys playing the piano, and he especially walks a great deal which keeps him active and healthy. At 80 years of age he can still walk five miles per day, uphill and down dale and hopes to continue these habits for years to come.

This is my story - an account of my life which began in the backstreets of the East End Docklands and took me eventually through all kinds of experiences and adventures and raised me to a level that many years ago I thought would be impossible. It is a book that should be read by every young man or girl who comes from a disadvantaged background, as I did, but who still maintains a burning ambition to get on in this world of ours. There is little you cannot achieve provided you have the will and the determination to see things through to the very end.
