About the Book

Look up towards the heavens and open your mind to the infinite, for it is there that you will see the colourful and multifaceted world of winged messengers - Gods, Angels, Fallen Angels and Demons. BOTH SIDES OF HEAVEN is a collection of 18 essays by some of the foremost modern esoteric writers, occult scholars and magicians. In their personal contributions they share their experiences, research and unique insights into the spiritual realms of the mysterious beings who have played such an important and inspirational role in human spiritual history. From the nature of the daimons of the Graeco-Roman world, the Zoroastrian Ahuras and Daevas, the seductive Lilith and mighty Lucifer, through to the Fallen Angels of the Bible and the Book of Enoch, and their children the Nephilim, we find that these powerful beings are harbingers of change. In this anthology their magical natures are explored through the works of Renaissance magicians such as Dr John Dee and Edward Kelley, Dr Thomas Rudd and more recently Madeline Montalban, as well as in that of the experiences of the contributors themselves. The ceremonies and conjurations of grimoires such as the Key of Solomon, Goetia and Grimorium Verum are considered, as well as adaptations thereof and simpler, personal encounters. When you look at Both Sides of Heaven seeking wisdom and knowledge from the wings of ethereal messengers, you will see legions of angels and demons, archangels, fallen angels, old gods and even a few faeries and green butterflies. And maybe, they will be looking back at you too. As these essays demonstrate, Angels have been with us for many thousands of years, and their influence continues to be felt as strongly today as it ever was!

About the Author :
Sorita d'Este is an author, researcher and publisher who manifests her knowledge and passion for the Mysteries through her work. Her research and writing pushes at the boundaries of Western Esoterica and beyond, often questioning and challenging the status quo and inspiring others towards experiential mysticism with firm foundations built on lessons learned from history, standing positively in today and looking with enthusiasm towards the future. She passionately believes that it is possible to manifest creativity, positivity, love and enchantment through the creation of independent, free-thinking and more spiritual communities, with firm foundations in truth, natural balance and generosity. David Rankine is an occult scholar and author of more than 20 books on the subject of magic, the western esoteric traditions, folklore and mythology. Since the 1970's he has been researching and exploring magical and spiritual practices throughout history; a journey which has taken him from ancient Sumeria, Babylonia and Egypt through Greece, Rome and Britain through the middle ages and renaissance and the modern Western Mystery Traditions. With Stephen Skinner he has produced works such as The Veritable Key of Solomon and the Goetia of Dr Rudd, both highly regarded groundbreaking works which make available previously unpublished source materials for the first time.

Review :
"I can see why someone would feel uncomfortable with this book. It is a strange combination of essays showing different perspectives on angels, demons and other winged beings. The contributors range from being very well known and respected occultists, to magicians and mystics I have not heard of at all. But then, surely those of us seeking knowledge and understanding should be interested in more than the obvious!" Scarlet River, Amazon Reviewer "Emily's essay "The Salvation of the Sidhe" radiated such vision that it has left me aching to see her full "Tarot of the Sidhe" when it is published. Jake's essay on grimoires was also fascinating and I think that his ideas focusing on the classical underpinnings of entity contact were well argued and presented and certainly an avenue for much further research on my part. Finally, Charlotte's essay simply bled hard won experience. But all these essays are far too short and needed much more space." Paolo Sammut, Amazon Reviewer
