About the Book
Europe's sizeable infrastructure gap presents individual Member States and the European Commission with a major challenge at a time of widespread budgetary constraints. It is no surprise, therefore, that the concept of public private partnerships (PPPs) has been readily embraced as a means of delivering transport and social infrastructure. However, the development of PPP programmes varies markedly between different countries due to differences in the political, legal, business and cultural context. The purpose of this book is to shed some light on these differences by examining developments in a range of European countries from a number of different perspectives. Rather than focus solely on the legal frameworks that govern the PPP process in each country, the authors have provided a much more rounded analysis that includes detailed market commentary and an assessment of the political drivers in each jurisdiction.
In "A Practical Guide to PPP in Europe", you will nd individual chapters on 17 Member States, including Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the UK (with separate chapters on England and Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland). In addition, there are chapters on Norway, Romania and Russia, as well as on the EU Commission's approach to PPPs.
