About the Book
Selected statutory materials on family law, chosen for their relevancy to courses at scottish law schools. The last few years have seen significant amendments to Scots family law and in particular the introduction of the new legal concept of civil partnership. Those parts of the Civil Partnership Act 2004, which are relevant to Scots law, have been included in this third edition of "Statutes on Scots Family Law", together with considerable consequential amendments. Part 2 of the Vulnerable Witnesses (Scotland) Act 2004 has also been included as it relates in particular to the evidence of children and is therefore of relevance to those studying child law. This volume is intended primarily as a resource for undergraduate students of child and family law and the provisions, which have been included, reflect the content of undergraduate courses. As with previous editions, statutory instruments have not been included. Students are unlikely to refer to these on a regular basis, and when they need to do so, statutory instruments are reasonably accessible on the Internet. To ensure that this collection continues to reflect the needs of its users, we would welcome their further comment.
I have endeavoured to update the materials to the end of June 2005. Material, which was not included in the statute as originally enacted, has been identified by the use of square brackets.
