About the Book

Twenty years have passed since the Twentieth Legion defeated Queen Boudicca and the Iceni and they are preparing to celebrate. The guest of honour is to be Julius Agricola, Governor of Britannia and a former commander of the Twentieth Legion. On the eve of his arrival the Senior Centurion, Quintis Flavius Acilianus, is found slumped over his desk with an iron stylus embedded in his neck. The medallion he had received for his part in the defeat of the Iceni had been stolen. Agricola undertakes an investigation into the murder and soon discovers there is no shortage of suspects.

About the Author :
Malcolm Seymour was born in 1944, and is now retired from full-time work. In his time, he has done many jobs, including civil servant, British Rail clerk and teacher. He still works for various boards as an examiner in English. He trained as an actor at the Welsh College of Music and Drama, and has acted professionally for a number of years. His early writing, in the 70s, included plays for the Mansfield Youth Theatre, covering subjects such as King Alfred, the Norman Conquest, and an adaptation of George Orwell's Animal Farm. In 1992, he had his first novel published: Test Case, a whodunnit set against the background of illegal cricket tours to South Africa. (Cricket is one of his passions.) This was followed, in 1999, by Mansfield Tales, a collection of ten fictional short stories inspired by his home town. He has also written a six-part television series, The Campaigns of Napoleon, shown on UK Horizons, plus Eastern Philosophy and Western Philosophy, educational videos for the American market. His most recent play, Wembley Ho!, was staged as a community theatre production in Mansfield.
