About the Book

Richard Mundy's "Lessons..." will de-mystify the car repair industry, help you side-step the pitfalls of auto repair processes and guide you toward a successful experience. In AUTO REPAIR: The Cutomer's Crash Course, he presents a knowledge base collected and polished over a 35-year career in the industry. Written clearly in easy-to-understand format, Mundy takes the reader though the entire process, from the first moment you realize a repair is needed, step-by-step through choosing a shop, authorizing the repairs, evaluating the invoice, and dealing with less-than-perfect outcomes. AUTO REPAIR will give you the info you need ... * How to Research Your Car Repair Choices * Analyze the ads - how to read between the lines * Signs of a good shop * The service writer vs. the technician * Repair Orders and Written Estimates * Scams and Frauds Crash Course * State-by-State resource directories ...and much more! AUTO REPAIR is sure to become one of the most valued books on your shelf. Bio: Richard Mundy spent 35 years in the automotive repair consumer protection business, most with California's Bureau of Automotive Repair, under The Department of Consumer Affairs. He rose up through their ranks from a field investigator, all the way to Deputy Chief in charge of the Field Operations and Enforcement Division. He spent his life studying consumer complaint trends and the activities of auto repair shops. Richard has drafted, critiqued, analyzed and revised countless pieces of California legislation and regulations pertaining to automotive repair. He also logged countless hours at the California State Capitol in Legislative hearings regarding auto repair issues. As a teenager, Richard worked at the corner gas station, servicing and repairing cars in the 1960s. In his college years, he refined his skills as a journeyman automotive repair technician while working at various repair shops and an engine manufacturing plant. It is at this stage that Richard cultivated his interests in engine performance and drag racing. He worked on vehicles that pioneered the performance cars of today, mostly muscle cars of the 60s and early 70s.
