About the Book

As we enter the millennium, Having None of It shows how the gurus got it wrong. The once promised world of higher productivity and greater leisure where paid work would cease to dominate our lives has not materialized. Having None of It asks how we can build a society where women's expectations and the global convulsions of the labour market can be harmonized with the needs of family and community. And why this question is officially sidelined as a 'woman's problem' instead of being debated as an urgent political issue that affects all of us.
