About the Book

This comprehensive text is aimed at anybody who needs to get the most out of the Apache Web Server. If you're thinking of setting up Apache for the first time, or of moving an existing web site to a dedicated server, then this book should help you build the server you want. It's also full of information on how to add new capabilities to existing servers, like e-commerce, PHP, or server-side Java support. The text provides you with the author's real-world knowledge of Apache's intricacies and annoyances, including undocumented information gleaned from source-code and experience. It also provides web server administrators and ISPs with the information they need to apply Apache to real world problems, using real examples. The key theme is "Apache the way you want it" - through extensive examples, this book sets out to give readers the information needed to build, configure and extend Apache to suit your requirements.
