About the Book

Clouds to Code is written for programmers who need to build robust, industrial-strength, commercial applications, and who want to see how it is done in the real world. It is written for project managers who want to learn how applying object oriented analysis and design will affect their project planning, scheduling and implementation. It is written for managers who want to understand what object oriented design is all about. Above all else, it is written for people who want to understand what it takes to build a world class application and to deliver it on time and on budget. Developers have been struggling for the past few years to acquire a suite of related skills, including object oriented analysis and design, an understanding of Design Patterns and a working knowledge of client/server and Internet-based technologies. For these professionals, the real question is, 'How do I bring all these skills together and apply them to the implementation of a commercial program, and how do I bring it in on deadline and make it great?' One way to acquire that knowledge is to join a project team and live through the process. That can be an expensive education, but until now there have been few alternatives. This book is designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and experience. It invites you to join the team as a silent observer, and to watch a real world development effort from inception to delivery. n/a
