About the Book

Events during two wars - the Second World War and the Cold War - unfurl to reveal an intricate and dangerous web of espionage and romance. Nothing and no one is quite as might first be thought - that would be far too simple...Ronald Cameron's business as a chandler and his development of new technology for Navy use can clearly be linked to his years working in communications in the 1940s, when he was involved with British convoy ships travelling to and from the port of Murmansk to deliver supplies to their Russian allies. But when, in 1965, on an officially sanctioned tourist trip to Russia, Cameron goes missing, it becomes apparent, both to the authorities and to his lover Nina and her friend Rachel, that this is no ordinary disappearance. When he is finally allowed to return to Britain, Cameron finds that strands from his wartime life reappear, some to delight him, others to threaten him and those most dear to him, and all to complicate his life in the most unexpected of ways. Jack Gauntlett's intriguing and fast-paced thriller gives a fascinating insight into the murky world inhabited by the intelligence and counter-intelligence agencies. The author combines the touching story of the relationships between the main protagonists with the roller coaster of twists and turns as the tale develops.
