About the Book

The Stranger, the Alien and the Foreigner are not individuals or groups - they are verdicts and conclusions, classifications and arrangements, and motives and explanations created through a belief in the power and borders of division. Within these pages, we seek meaning and understanding for those that define their existence to a relationship with an identity that does not include them. On uncommon ground, scholars from all parts of the world gathered at the 2nd Global Conference on Strangers, Aliens and Foreigners to present inter- and multi-disciplinary views, meanings and understandings. Most in attendance were strangers to the others; most were on foreign soil: such an environment providing more bountiful the meaning, more ambient the surroundings.
